Nissan Motor Corporation is investing over £1 billion into its UK operations. This includes a commitment to manufacturing three all-#electric models at its Sunderland plant – the UK’s largest car factory. The scheme will preserve around 6000 jobs directly, with thousands more supported in the UK supply chain. Envision AESC has already announced plans to expand battery production for the plant through further giga-factories in the area, powered by #renewable energy. “The EV36Zero project puts our Sunderland plant at the heart of our future vision,” said Nissan President and CEO Makoto Uchida. “It means our UK team will be designing, #engineering and manufacturing the vehicles of the future, driving us towards an all-electric future for Nissan in Europe.”
