Fantastic to hear about your experience with our Marine, Art, and Specie team! 🌍🚢 We're proud to be a part of your journey into the world of Specialty Insurance. Best of luck to you and all of our fantastic interns - we can't wait to see what you do next!
I’m excited to share that I’ve completed a three-week work experience with the Marine, Art, and Specie team at Gallagher Specialty. This gave me a unique insight into the world of specialised insurance, where I learned about insuring everything from vessels to items like Pokémon cards and Super yachts. Some of the highlights included a tour of Lloyd’s, where I got to witness the history behind insurance. Did you know it all started from a coffeehouse! My favourite part was the elevator ride with amazing views. I also had the chance to create a presentation on maritime decarbonisation—a critical topic shaping the future of the marine industry. Interacting with other employees and learning about how technology has transformed the insurance industry was fascinating. This opportunity allowed me to develop my research skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and presentation skills. I improved my understanding of the different roles in insurance and a main message I takeway is that there is no set path into insurance. One of the most enjoyable aspects was connecting with other interns. It was great to share experiences and collaborate. I wish them all the best for the future. Thank you to Rheanna Duffield for a valuable CV session, where I received personalised feedback and advice. A big thank you to Florence Tully, Georgia Mearns and Jake South for hosting me and to Stacey Scott for organising this! And lastly thank you to Zero Gravity for this amazing opportunity!
