⏩ We’re showcasing #innovation across our networks this week at #InnovationZero.  📍 Join NGET at stand C17 to learn more about our #innovations across our transmission network, including:  👉 The VICAP project aiming to fully automate the capture and processing of corrosion related condition assessment data for the steelwork on our pylons in collaboration with sees.ai ai and Keen AI. 👉 The RICA project, aiming to develop an innovative method for uprating overhead lines and increase transmission capacity by 40%.  👉 A solution for rapidly sealing leaks from pipework and while systems remain in service on the transmission network that we developed in collaboration with Rawwater. #innovation #innovationzero

Our project partners from DNV and The University of Manchester will present NGETs SF6 whole life strategy project looking to develop an economic, efficient and holistic replacement strategy for SF6 that will support Britain's ambition to facilitate a net zero and resilient energy system on 23 April 10:00 – 12:10. Both Electricity Transmission and Electricity Distribution innovation teams have secured £400,000 to kickstart three innovation projects to help accelerate Britain’s net zero transition. ⚡ Supported through Ofgem's and UK Research and Innovation Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF), the projects will see our innovation teams collaborate with academic and industry partners to tackle key energy network challenges. 💡The latest successful projects include early development of a monitoring system for offshore cables, a project to help decarbonise rural areas, and an initiative looking at ways to support the street and road works sector as it decarbonises. 👉Find out more at: https://lnkd.in/eVEEwyRu

🛣 We need your ideas to help solve some of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry on the road to #netzero! 💬 Experts from our #innovation team have been sharing their insights into some of these challenges at the latest #InnovationBasecamp hosted by Energy Networks Association (ENA). 💡 At the event, we presented 'problem statements' outlining some of the biggest hurdles we've identified in the delivery of the smart energy transition. 🔓 Collaboration will be key to unlocking a clean, fair and affordable smart energy future so conversations like this are crucial to explore and develop the industry-wide solutions needed to meet the UK's net zero targets. Our problem statements focused on the need for innovative projects to help: ✅ decarbonise network operations ✅ increase the flexibility and efficiency of the energy system to speed up the adoption of low carbon technologies ✅ make the most of existing network infrastructure to reduce the cost and environmental impact of new construction projects.
