  • Opening doors for future talent 👷 We have recently launched the third cohort of our Constructing Futures Programme, in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, hub South West Scotland, tigers and DYW Scotland. Hosted on site at St Kevins Primary School in Bargeddie, Scotland, the programme is giving pupils from nearby St Ambrose and Coatbridge High Schools an opportunity to gain hands on experience in the construction industry. Upon completion, pupils will be awarded a Foundation Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 5) qualification, helping them to pursue a career in the industry. As part of this week’s Open Doors initiative, we also welcomed 12 students from St Andrews Academy for a tour of the site and an opportunity to meet and learn from some of our project team. • Over 450 pupils descended on RNAS Culdrose this week for a mega Lego competition! Pupils from 48 schools across Cornwall were invited to take part in the First Lego League South West Regional Final, a day of competition organised by Cornwall Council and the Royal Navy. As part of the event, Kier challenged the schoolchildren to take part in a ‘Float Your Boat’ challenge, using only paper cups and straws. Every participant came up with some fantastic designs and had a lot of fun taking part! Our eventual winners were Falmouth School on day one, and Connor Downs Academy on day two. Some truly impressive Lego robots were also made as part of the main event, which was held in a hanger just a stone's throw from our major redevelopment project at B-Site for 820 Squadron and the Duke of Cornwall building at Culdrose - a collaboration between Kier, Navy Command, DIO MPP NADES and Mott MacDonald A massive thank you to Totus Engineering Ltd and our project team for supporting this event, which aimed to encourage children in STEM. the LEGO Group | Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)
