The report highlights the need for an ambitious policy vision to tackle neglect, and provides the government with a series of recommendations on what this vision should include. Key findings include: 🟢 neglect is becoming increasingly pervasive 🟢 professionals feel confident in identifying neglect, but often feel powerless to combat it due to a lack of services and resources 🟢 the multi-agency response to neglect is slow. 🖥️ 📱 Online safety should form a key part of schools’ and colleges’ safeguarding and child protection measures. Here are some important things to remember when considering online safety in school: 📝 All schools and colleges should have robust e-safety policies and procedures that set out how to prevent and respond to online safety incidents 🌐 Your school should have strong IT infrastructure and data protection practice. This should include effective filtering and monitoring systems to protect children from harmful online material. 🧑🏫 It is essential that schools teach children about staying safe online – both inside and outside of school. This teaching shouldn’t be restricted to IT lessons. Embedding key messages throughout the curriculum helps ensure all ages are taught online safety skills. 💬 Online safety may be daunting for parents and carers too. You should support parents and carers to learn more about online safety and maintain ongoing discussion about staying safe online with their children at home. By taking a whole school approach to online safety, you can help make sure all staff, governors, volunteers and parents know how they can help keep children safe online.
