About us

The Nurture Network is a networking hub hosted by Lemon Quarters Squared for UK-based female professionals and entrepreneurs across all ages, sectors, regions and at all stages of their business journey. The network is free to join. The purpose of the Nurture Network is to give all women in business a seat at the table. The anchor is a virtual roundtable event that brings 10 women together to share their business experiences, mentor each other and network. It is an informal, off-the- record hosted conversation designed to garner advice, inspiration for those at the table and help to inform decisions about future content for Nurture Network. Rich related content will be shared via social media - Instagram, Linkedin & Twitter for Network members and a wider audience. The content will also be a skills development resource for all to consume and share. There is one corporate partnership slot available per event. We want to help corporates build on their diversity, equity and inclusion agenda, support women in their industry and build a talent pipeline. Nurture Network will address the following: increasing diversity within organisations; creating business opportunities for women in leadership roles; addressing the current skills gaps; and increasing networking/mentoring opportunities.

#ThePowerOfCommunity This week, I witnessed firsthand the incredible power of community. A group of extraordinary men and women came together to support female founders, pooling their time and resources to help overturn the recent Innovate UK Women in Business Award. It reminded me of a core belief we hold at Nurture Network: amazing things happen when we come together. At Nurture Network, we don’t just rally when things get tough; we celebrate and support each other when things are great too. That’s why we’re inviting not only our members but also the incredible new friends and allies we've met recently to join us in experiencing something truly special. Our aim is to ensure that senior women have access to some of the most exclusive networking experiences, like live Manchester United games, Formula One races, world-class conferences, and other high-level events. Through Connect Experiences, you’ll be matched with a hospitality partner that aligns with your passions. Often, these suites go underutilized when they could be filled with brilliant women making connections and building relationships that last. We all know that time is our most precious resource, so we’re delighted to offer this opportunity to our network. But there’s a limited number of memberships available, so sign up now at the link below. Tagging some amazing and inspiring women we have met this week in the comments below. #SpeakerAlert We’re stuck with a success model that rewards the sacrifices we make on our journey to the top, rather than the success itself. It’s clearly a flawed model because the reward will always fall flat as nothing is worth sacrificing our mental, physical and emotional health for. So what can you do about it? We are joined by Tamu T., the amazing author, and coach at the Nurture Network Live 24 to understand where we, as women, got our toxic productivity habits from, how to break them and learn how to give less of yourself to actually achieve more. #WomenWhoWorkTooMuch #ItTakesAVillage #ToxicProductivity Media partners and sponsors Startups Magazine, Maddyness UK, Fidelity Investments

#SpeakerAlert It Takes a Village: Join Us at Nurture Network Live 2024! We could write all the accolades and accomplishments of Lee Chambers—and they are pretty impressive. As the Chief Psychologist & Founder of Essentialise Workplace Wellbeing & Male Allies UK, Lee’s work has earned him a spot on the Startups 100 Index, a Great British Entrepreneur Award, and even the Freedom of the City of London for his services to equality in business. But in preparing for this exclusive fireside chat, it wasn’t the accolades that stood out to me and our journalist Christian Doherty. What struck me most was when Lee shared one of the most pivotal experiences in his life. Growing up in a poor neighbourhood in the north of England where he was the only one who looked like him a young black child from Bolton, Lee learned early on about the power of community - even at the tender age of 7 when he couldnt quite name it. His journey began in an environment that wasn’t always supportive, but it was the strength of his ‘village’ that helped him overcome the challenges he faced. This made me reflect on my own childhood experiences and the importance of having the right people in your corner. At Nurture Network Live 2024: It Takes a Village, we’re going in deep as Lee opens up about these formative experiences and how they shaped his path to becoming a leading voice in promoting inclusion and allyship. His story is one of resilience, determination, and the crucial role that a supportive network plays in navigating life’s toughest challenges. Beyond Lee’s inspiring fireside chat, our event will feature dynamic panels and practical workshops where you’ll learn: - How to future-proof success by cultivating an inclusive multigenerational culture - Who your dream team should be and why they matter - Strategies to win internal support and perfect your leadership style - How to navigate life’s challenges with the right support system If you’re ready to build your team and take your career or business to the next level, save your seat for Nurture Network Live 2024. This is more than just an event—it’s a chance to connect with like-minded professionals, learn from each other’s stories, and grow together. Link in comments below to be part of this transformative experience. We can't wait to see you there!

#TuesdaysWisdom and the power of the #pause in protecting our #mentalhealth this summer... Nope, this isn't our headline speaker at our upcoming event – more on that later... We wanted to share the importance of protecting our mental health, especially amidst the distressing challenges our communities face. Today alone, we've heard about Black and Brown people afraid to go to work for fear of being attacked, and yesterday we read about feelings reminiscent of the Skinhead era of the '70s. The recent riots across the UK have heightened fears within our communities. The potential threats creeping into our homes via social media and TV are alarming. It's crucial that we show support and solidarity, helping our wider community navigate these turbulent times. Let's strive for a safer, more inclusive environment for all. In today's fast-paced world, taking a moment to pause and prioritize mental health can make all the difference. This summer, we're reminded of the power of resilience through the inspiring journey of gymnast Simone Biles. Simone's brave decision to step back during the Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health sparked a global conversation, emphasizing that it's okay not to be okay. This pause was crucial for her well-being and ultimately led to her triumphant return. After a two-year hiatus, she secured first place at the Core Hydration Classic in May 2024 and is now celebrating her third gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Simone's journey underscores that taking a pause for mental health is not a setback but a powerful step toward greater achievements. Her success shows that prioritizing mental well-being can lead to extraordinary results, both in high-performance sports and in our everyday lives. As we take breaks and enjoy the sun this summer, let's remember the importance of pausing and recognize that our well-being is just as important as our achievements. Please don't forget, as we take this pause, to continually check in with our friends, family, and wider community to make sure they are okay, supporting unity over division. After all, it truly does take a village... #MentalHealth #Resilience #SimoneBiles #CommunitySupport #WellBeing #Unity #ItTakesAVillage

#TuesdaySpotlight Our founder, Marie-Claire F., recently had the privilege of addressing the wonderful @Precious Nights group, hosted by the amazing Foluke Akinlose MBE FRSA, on the subject of using storytelling to grow your business. And while public speaking isn’t her natural habitat, storytelling has always been a part of her—a legacy from her childhood days. And at this event, she was asked which brand she thought captured the art of authentic storytelling and why. She spoke about one hero who stands out: Olympic winner Allyson Felix. Now Allyson is not just a sprinter; she’s a formidable force to be reckoned with. And when Allyson discovered she was expecting, she initially felt apprehensive, almost like it could be the end of her career. However, she stood her ground, found her voice, and launched #Saysh, a brand designed by and for women. She explains in her journal and court documents that she was told by her then sponsors to "know my place." As women and leaders within this wonderful community, it would be interesting to know how many of us have been in similar situations. Her voice and journey led her then-sponsor Nike to revise their maternity policy. Now in just under two months, we will gather at Nurture Network Live 24. Our opening keynote will be delivered by our very own Olympian, Louise Jones, a sport psychologist with an Olympic background (coaching many teams to that gold medal), who will share insights on how leadership isn’t just a solo pursuit. Whether you’re ready with questions or simply seeking camaraderie, join us. At Nurture Network, we believe it takes a village. We have a few tickets left. We know we may not all be Allyson Felix, and we may not want to go out there and build our own brands, but we do want to surround ourselves with incredible, supportive allies who can help us create safe spaces to thrive in whatever career or business we build. Stay curious, stay connected, and stay hydrated—it’s hot out there this week. See you at the event! #BuildingInclusiveCommunity #BuildingBetter #ItTakesAVillage #SayshOne

Ah, the cosmic convergence of cyber security IT outages, flying ants, and slug invasions, the last day of school for most of us anyway—it’s like the universe decided to throw a wild party! And all this hullabaloo on a scorching summer day,? Well, it’s certainly turning up the heat, both literally and metaphorically. But fear not, over at Nurture Network, we’re in full event-planning mode. Picture this: over 18 speakers and counting, representing more than 20 organisations and businesses, all geared up to drop wisdom bombs at our upcoming meet. We've got Maddyness UK, Startups Magazine, SheSays, and our headline sponsor, Fidelity Investments. Oh, and the venue? Rise, created by Barclays. It’s like a village coming together to share secrets, dreams, and insights. Tickets are practically out the door. Almost sold out! We’re rolling out the welcome mat for over 90 female leaders. Yep, you read that right: 90 trailblazers ready to brainstorm, strategize, and figure out how to keep our ships sailing smoothly together. Because let’s be real, captaining our own vessels is super challenging. And not to forget we have a sprinkle of young people joining too- from a select secondary school as well as from Badu, Stemettes and a few other FE collegues... (b'cos it takes a village right). And what’s on the menu? Inspirational speakers galore! Here’s a sneak peek: Navigating generational waters: gen z and multigenerational dynamics: Gen Z—the digital renaissance artists—share the stage with Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, and Millennials. When life happens, divorce? bereavement? Life throws curveballs like a relentless game of dodgeball. Let’s discuss resilience, healing, and how to catch those curveballs without stumbling. Including the parenthood and menopause, balancing act. Crafting winning teams: whether scaling a business or climbing the corporate ladder, team composition matters. And crucially taming the distractions: social media, water-cooler banter, and interpretive squirrels. And then there is allyship in action... and more... All of which nod to our overall theme that 'it takes a village'.
