OW Ocean Winds UK

Wind Electric Power Generation

DELIVERING THE GREEN RECOVERY WITH THE UK

About us

Ocean Winds is grounded on the strength of two global brands in combination – EDP Renewables and ENGIE. The Joint Venture has a proven UK market track record of delivery in the Moray East project, one of the country’s largest offshore windfarms. Ocean Winds has been at the forefront of cost reduction through innovation creating benefit to consumers as a result of the record low Contract for Difference (CfD) award in 2017 for Moray East of £57.50/MWh. Moray West is in the construction phase having reached Financial Close in April 2023. The first power is due in 2024 and the wind farm will be fully operational in 2025. Higher transmission charges for northern projects must be reformed to enable Moray West and other northern projects to deliver economic continuity for ‘levelling up’ and the post Covid recovery.

🌬 Busy days at the OW Ocean Winds UK stand at the Floating Offshore Wind Conference #FOW2024!   📢We’ve held insightful conversations covering both nearer-term opportunities from our four offshore wind farms in the country and the exciting long-term potential of future floating wind projects – with the opportunity to present local impacts with our #Arven project in partnership with Mainstream Renewable Power at the Shetland Islands Council stand.   It’s fantastic to be back in 📍Aberdeen, the heart of the UK’s traditional oil and gas industry, where the #GreenEnergyTransition is being embraced with enthusiasm! 🔋   Here’s a glimpse of our involvement: 🔹 Adam Morrison, UK Country Manager, introduced a video speech from Energy Minister Michael Shanks 🔹 OW Ocean Winds then welcomed the new Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee, who shared insights on how government support and investment can unlock the skills needed for this transition 🔹 Adam then chaired the panel "Financing the Future," sparking engaging discussions on blending public and private sector funding for the green future.   👏 A huge thanks to RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables for once again organizing another brilliant event with a stellar lineup of speakers, lively debate and a vibrant exhibition!   📸 Take a look at how we lived the event below! 👇   #ProudToBeOW #EnergyTransition #NetZero #OffshoreWind

🎉 Another major milestone for the OW Ocean Winds Moray West #OffshoreWind farm with the completion of the inter-array cables package! 🎉 📍 From their Scottish base in Aberdeen Seaway7, has safely and successfully managed the project to install, bury and connect the cables. With all cables provided by JDR Cable Systems it has been a great demonstration of what the #UKSupplyChain can deliver for the offshore wind sector. 🌬️ With 118 km of 66kV cable connecting the 60 wind turbines to the two offshore substations (OSPs) and 15km of 66kV cable connecting the two OSPs, the programming has required close collaboration between Seaway7, the foundations’ supply chain and the wind turbine installer to ensure no downtime of the heavy lift installation vessels. 👏 A testament to professionalism, focused on delivery! OW Ocean Winds is proud to be working with suppliers that share the drive to deliver. 💪 📸 Check out the pictures below! 👇 #ProudToBeOW #EnergyTransition

pOWering progress! 🙌 We recently celebrated the third anniversary of installing the final turbine on our Moray East Offshore Windfarm. This incredible project has operated safely and efficiently for three years, capable of powering nearly a million homes! 🏡 As we marked the 3-year anniversary of Moray East's final turbine installation, we are reminded of the rapid pace of progress in the offshore wind industry. 🌬 The success of Moray East has paved the way for projects like Moray West, which is nearing completion, and already generating renewable energy to the grid. When fully operational in 2025, OW Ocean Winds will become Scotland’s largest renewable energy generator, helping to further solidify Scotland's position as a global leader in offshore wind.⚡ Looking ahead, our ambitious CALEDONIA Offshore Wind Farm project promises to be another game-changer. With a planned capacity of 2 GW, it has the potential to power around 2 million homes and contribute significantly to our net-zero goals. 🌍 We’re confident in our ability to continue driving the local economy and contributing to a sustainable energy future for generations to come. 👷♂️ 👷♀️ Join us in celebrating these achievements and sharing our excitement for what lies ahead!
