3 speaking tips for technical people. 1) Choose a Topic that Inspires You Speaking about something you love, makes you more confident. The passion will shine through. Tips: ✓ Pick a topic that you are genuinely passionate about ✓ Avoid guessing what the audience might like ✓ Let your enthusiasm be contagious 2) Build Your Presentation Around a Story Stories captivate and connect with the audience. Don't overload your slides with text. Start with questions you think the audience has. Tips: ✓ Tell a story that answers those questions ✓ Use stories to make your points memorable ✓ Keep your talk engaging and avoid sounding like a sales pitch 3) Evaluate the Stage Before Your Session Arrive early and check out the stage. Notice the size and where the good lighting is. Imagine yourself on stage. Tips: ✓ Decide if you want to stay in one spot or move around ✓ Familiarize yourself with the space ✓ Make the stage your comfort zone I used to be nervous about giving talks. Especially as they were technical. Focusing on the story now makes me excited. If you're finding it hard to prepare... 1. Choose a topic that inspires you. 2. Build your presentation around a story. 3. Evaluate the stage before your session. Thought I would share this as I wish I knew this when I started! Hope this helps!
