🚨 OpenAI’s New Pro Features - #EuropeExcluded! 🚨 It’s official: 👏OpenAI has released new features for Pro users, but many regions, including the EU, are left out (official OpenAI statement on X below👇) 👉While not fully verified, the exclusion is suggested to be linked to the European AI Act, specifically around regulations on AI emotion capabilities (we did note the clause highlight by some in the act, but whether this is the reason is unknown as we aren’t privy to OpenAI release plans). This sparks a larger debate about #AIEthics—should fair access to AI be restricted due to regulatory caution, or are these safeguards necessary to prevent unchecked advances prioritising profit over societal benefit? OpenAI has itself classified their o1 model as “medium risk,” raising concerns about the balance between innovation and responsibility. We are a strong supporter of AI and innovation, but at same time heavily supported #SafeAI use. 💸possibly more concerning is OpenAI’s business approach. Recent profit warnings suggest cracks in their model, and alienating a significant portion of their non-US user base by restricting access to features only deepens the divide. Giving away advanced features for free to basic users, while Pro users pay for similar access, seems to be driving many, myself included, to consider cancelling subscriptions. 📉 But there’s more to this… We tested o1 on a straightforward use case, and while there were promising signs, not everything met expectations ⚖️. As we dug deeper, some challenges became clear. 🧐 What went wrong⁉️ 👉Find out in Part 2 🔍- coming soon, so stay tuned by following us! #AIRegulations #OpenAI #AIFuture

Factual information is key to many aspects of society- whether it’s to reduce LLM hallucinations, or whether it’s to ensure accurate reporting of information on social media, or the internet in general. #EthicalAI #ArtificialIntelligence

We’re releasing DataGemma: open models that enhance LLM factuality by grounding them with real-world data from Google's Data Commons. 💡 It tackles hallucinations in AI models to generate more accurate and useful responses. Here’s how they work → https://dpmd.ai/47nWbvK

For PlatorAI followers - has anyone with Plus or API use used this yet? There was a slight lag of between announcement and availability - it’s now available on our App* (except advanced voice - see other post!) I would be interested to find out users initial views. We will be exploring its use cases on both Plus App and API over the coming weeks. #PlatorAI #EthicalAi #OpenAi

We're releasing a preview of OpenAI o1—a new series of AI models designed to spend more time thinking before they respond. This new series of AI models can reason through complex tasks and solve harder problems than previous models in science, coding, and math. Rolling out today in ChatGPT to all Plus and Team users, and in the API for developers on tier 5.    More here: www.openai.com/o1

What’s your view? There are viewpoints posed by some that the California AI Act will be problematic for OpenSource especially and place to heavy a burden on core technology developers for downstream actions, versus others whose views would suggest it is important developers of core AI technology are held to account. An electric motor can be used for good or bad, however, does total abstention of placing regulations on its core use enable downstream actors to do as they please? Is there a better analogy to consider other areas where things are “licensed for use for…” - in that way balancing a neutral path - and that safeguards are put in place (with onus on all parties) to monitor the downstream use (by the core developers?). Would you let a plane manufacturer (e.g. Boeing developers) simply let a new plane take off, without consideration of who flies the plane, maintains the plane, buys the plane, consumes the plane and monitors the plane flight path in the sky. None of the above are directly down to Boeing, however would be considerations by Boeing developers. If however a plane is hijacked, should a Boeing developer be held responsible? I am sure many learned individuals will have a view. Comments welcome 🙏

There’s still time to stop California’s SB 1047 from becoming law. For TIME magazine, I wrote about why this bill would hinder developers and actually make AI less safe. We should be regulating harmful applications of AI, not general-purpose AI models. https://lnkd.in/gFd8CReM

John Hagel’s poll is interesting - if you read his insightful thought provoking blog https://lnkd.in/eYxve9wZ Can future AI demonstrate its ability to contextualise the current moment of an individual’s need and act tactically? In #PlatorAI’s view that’s a power of two aspects AI probably isn’t capable of today - especially as current models lack “memory”. However, will the people stop putting their data online that triggers large AI companies to run out of original ideas for their training- given the “accept terms and conditions” of the large institutions who we rely on to provide data and platforms to communicate via? Thoughts welcome 🙏

A very good example of positive use of AI - whereby the documentation burden is reduced, allowing the expert human more time to focus on using their skills, experience and expert training as a leading medic to focus on overall better patient care #HumanLedAIAugemented #PlatorAI

AIMI Associate Director Akshay Chaudhari partnered with AIMI Research Scientist Dave Van Veen to adapt eight large language models (LLMs) to clinical text and then tested the LLMs' summarization skills against those of human medical experts. "AI often generates summaries that are comparable to or better than those written by medical experts," Chaudhari explains. "This demonstrates the potential of LLMs to integrate into the clinical workflow and reduce documentation burden." Van Veen elaborates on how this efficiency could ultimately help physicians take better care of patients: "We think AI has great potential to serve in an assistive capacity to expedite the physician's caseload and also to reduce errors. More time with the patient and greater accuracy could lead to better patient care." Would you concur? Ben Elms perfectly encapsulates the very reasons why PlatorAI adopted AI into our tech stack, and why we embraced #AIRegulations, #AIGovernance, #AISafety and #AIEthics into our consulting expertise. True AI skills and experience are hard to find. While there are immensely bright academics, AI complexity far surpasses other technologies. This is why we believe a deep understanding beyond the surface is essential. Is your understanding of AI just scratching the surface? Dive deeper and learn more about how www.platorAI.com can help you navigate the complexities of AI and navigate AI responsibly.

I’m very pleased to share some new AI-specific insights uncovered in our Enterprise Horizons 2024 report. In collaboration with IDC our report has found that over a third of global enterprises are struggling to retain or attract crucial AI, data, automation and networking skills – which is harming organisations’ AI ambitions. With both large and mid-size businesses around the world looking to deploy new AI tools to boost productivity and revenue potential, the report uncovers the major challenges that organisations are having in implementing AI strategies in full effectively. Technology leaders, across the US, Europe and APAC, pinpoint navigating AI governance and ethics challenges, a difficulty in finding partners with the required AI capabilities, and crucially, network performance, as other key barriers to scaling AI projects successfully. Make sure to check out our report’s AI findings in the full release here:  https://lnkd.in/gYdWwsZm #EnterpriseHorizons #Innovation #CIO #Technology #AI #Data #Automation
