🌍 On Thursday 28 November, RAL Space is hosting a showcase of the Earth observation instrument projects run under the UK Earth Observation for Marine and Climate Monitoring (EO4MCM) programme. 🛰️ This programme aims to identify and develop instruments for applications relating to climate change, maritime and net zero, which are suitable for deployment on constellations of small satellites. Through collaboration with government, academia, industry and international partners, these projects will establish new mission technologies and concepts to help the UK prepare for future challenges. 📍 The EO4MCM showcase event will take place in Central London from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Attendees will hear talks from and network with the teams developing innovative satellite-based instruments as part of EO4MCM. Read more about the programme and each of the projects here: https://lnkd.in/ewsbK8af As the venue has limited capacity, please contact Oliver Cotton directly to express your interest in attending. Do any primary school teachers in Wales follow us on LinkedIn? 👀🏴 We're very proud that two of the role models featured in this campaign work at RAL Space! Find out how your school can get involved and learn more about STEM careers 👇
🗣Calling all primary school teachers in Wales! Join our fully funded STEM careers project for key stage 2 pupils! STEM Person of the Week is a 5 week programme aiming to inspire young people to consider careers in STEM and includes a science show, follow on activities, a CPD session for teachers and a quiz for pupils to do at home with their families. 🎤The show introduces five STEM role models, all with Welsh connections. The science they are working on is demonstrated in a fun interactive way, while highlighting key personality traits and encouraging the pupils to look for these personality traits in themselves. 📝If you would like to register your school for a place or find out more, please click the link in the comments and complete the form. ⚠️Please also tag your primary teacher friends and share the word around. Funding is provided by STFC. Project is a joint collaboration between NUSTEM and Northumbria University and Science Made Simple. *The funded programme slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis, you must be a primary school in Wales to apply. The programme can be delivered in English or Welsh. For full details in Welsh check post on our page.

☀️🌍 Today, our Joint Science Operations Centre (JSOC) welcomed #Cluster mission manager Phillippe Escoubet and project scientist Arnaud Masson from European Space Agency - ESA for their final operations progress meeting here at RAL Space. After 24 years in space, the first satellite in ESA's Cluster quartet returned to Earth in a world-first "targeted re-entry" last month, marking the end of a mission that revolutionised our understanding of the processes behind space weather. The JSOC and ESA teams have been working together for over 20 years to prepare operations for this remarkable mission, so well as reviewing the mission's final months and discussing the forthcoming archiving phase, they took time today to celebrate many successful years of work 👏 STFC | ESA Operations, Engineering & Space Safety
