During the warmer months, we tend to be out and about more—whether on holiday, exploring new places, or simply enjoying the outdoors. It’s easy to get distracted and let our guard down, which can lead to an increase in lost items. Over 25 million journeys are completed across the Transport for London network each day, so it's hardly surprising that more than 210,000 lost items are logged each year. These range from phones to didgeridoos, and even an engagement ring worth £54,000. Nearly 48,000 items were later reclaimed by their owners. After 90 days, unclaimed items can be sold, donated, recycled, reused, or destroyed. It appears that Report My Loss isn’t the only one working to reunite people with their lost property! 🔎 Metal detectorist Darren Wiles from Dorset, dubbed ‘Batman’ by one lucky teenager he helped, has recovered and returned 257 items since he began advertising his services on a dedicated website in 2011. 👏 Over the years, Darren has reunited a range of items, including phones, keys, and jewellery, with their rightful owners.
