Over the past few days Anne-Charlotte Gaillard, Claire Melrose (Gilchrist), Lynne McIntosh-Grieve and Nicola Harris have been enjoying and supporting Floating Offshore Wind 2024 Conference in Aberdeen. Key activities included: 🏃♀️ Hassan Asheg ⓥ preconference runs ahead of both days of the conference providing some early networking 🥐An Introduction to Floating Offshore Wind Networking Breakfasts for newcomers to the industry offering an opportunity to make some initial connections, gain some key knowledge and tips on tacking the conference head on. Organised and led by Anne-Charlotte Gaillard, Claire Melrose (Gilchrist) and Nicola Harris. 🍼 Despite being on maternity leave, Lynne McIntosh-Grieve attended with our newest recruit to ‘keep in touch’ with the industry and her wonderful network. Wonderful to see so much acceptance to the very real juggle of working parents and inspiring to see a few children popping in to see what all the fuss is about in floating offshore wind. 🎤Nicola Harris finished up the conference speaking on the role, pressures and opportunities for supply chain in the Celtic Sea Floating Offshore Wind market sparking good discussion on making progress ahead of the big announcements next year. Overall it was a fantastic event celebrating what has been achieved over the past 12 months as well as a coming together to tackle the challenges we face ahead. The theme very much seems to have moved from development to a focus on delivery. A key shift as the scale of the opportunity in our hands was emphasised by the FLOW Taskforce report which was released on Day 1 of the conference on which Lynne McIntosh-Grieve was a work stream lead! The “Floating Wind: Anchoring the next generation offshore” Report quantifies the job creation and economic stimulus potential of the industry and headlines FOW as having the potential to be the UK’s biggest industrial opportunity of the century. Of course there are big challenges ahead, including consenting timelines, ports, grid connections and technology readiness and the clear importance of getting Test & Demonstration Projects into action however in each of these areas clear actions and movement is underway – we look forward to being a part of these and celebrating more successes at Floating Offshore Wind 2025. #floatingoffshorewind24 #offshorerenewables RenewableUK Scottish Renewables
