STARt Healthy, Stay Healthy - Aligning public and planetary health through plant-based dietary solutions

About us

The STAR Hub is a UKRI Diet and Health Open Innovation Research Club (OIRC) innovation hub, a BBSRC-funded network hosted by the University of Surrey in collaboration with the Universities of Reading, Newcastle, Ulster and Leeds. Our aim is for the Hub to serve as an inclusive and open innovation space for industry, academia and the 3rd sector to develop targeted plant-based dietary solutions, to tackle micronutrient deficiency among those adhering to a plant-based diet, and to provide industry with scientific evidence for reformulation based on nutritional needs across life-course. We support these activities through: - Business Interaction Vouchers - Feasibility Awards - Flexible Mobility Awards and tripartite networking events such as Industry Innovation Fora, encouraging collaboration, bespoke innovation support activities, and coaching activities centred around working with industry, impact and translation and aimed at early career researchers (ECRs) and those wishing to engage with industry.
