[CAREERS] In the run up to Sword’s Graduate Data Academy Open Day, we asked Ryan Phipps Kenny, who joined Sword via this pathway in 2020 to tell us what it’s like working at Sword. “After graduating from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Mathematics, I completed a few online courses in data engineering before joining Sword as a junior data engineer. Two years on, after completing the Data Academy, I was promoted to Data Engineer and have continued to be a part of the data academy programme for our new recruits ever since. The spread of customer projects that I’ve worked on so far has been brilliant; I’ve worked on projects across local government, the NHS, retail and energy customers. It’s almost like getting a new job every 6-12 months, but with the support of my Data and Analytics team at Sword as my career progresses. A key highlight for us was leading a breakout session on the importance of observability and how we can support organisations in implementing transformative projects to revolutionise customer experiences and employee engagement to drive growth in a fast-paced environment.
