It's Day 7 of #WorldSpaceWeek! 🚀 We are celebrating the transformative impact of space technology on our lives, emphasizing the proactive role Earth Observation plays in enhancing our understanding and management of Earth’s climate. The Teledyne Space Imaging team are working on a number of #space missions that are helping to monitor environmental shifts and formulating strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change. The ISS (International Space Station) carries 3 instruments monitoring the earth: Aerospace Corporation’s airglow instruments, NASA JPL’s EMIT and ECOSTRESS. Airglow studies the Earth's airglow (a naturally occurring light source emitted by the atmosphere) and how it relates to space weather. Additionally, it takes night time images of the ground and clouds. EMIT maps the composition of areas that produce mineral dust to study how that dust travels through the Earth system and affects human populations. ECOSTRESS quantifies water evaporation from plants to study key areas of water stress, agricultural use, and drought management. Teledyne provided sensors: HgCdTe IR (MCT) FPA on NIRAC (Near Infrared Airglow Camera), and PIANO (Phenomenology Imager & Nighttime Observer), CHROMA-A Vis/SWIR FPA on EMIT (Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation), and HgCdTe (MCT) LWIR/VLWIR FPA on ECOSTRESS (ECOsystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station). #InternationalSpaceStation #ECOSTRESS #WSW2024 #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceMatters #WSW #Space4Climate #WorldSpaceWeek2024 #EarthObservation

It's Day 6 of #WorldSpaceWeek! The ISRO Earth Observation missions facilitate and study large-scale urban planning, water management, rural resource and infrastructure development, coastal land use, and land cover. Teledyne provided sensors: Infrared HgCdTe (MCT) focal plane arrays (FPAs) on PAN (Panchromatic Camera) and MX (Multispectral VNIR) installed on CartoSat-3. FPAs on ALISS-3 (Advanced Linear Imaging Self-Scanning Sensor) and ATCOR (Atmospheric Correction) installed on ResourceSat-3.) #IndianSpaceResearchOrganisation #ISRO #CARTOSAT3 #WSW2024 #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceMatters #WSW #Space4Climate #WorldSpaceWeek2024 #EarthObservation @Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)

It's Day 5 of #WorldSpaceWeek! KOMPSAT or Korean Multi-Purpose Satellite is a series of South Korean multipurpose satellite for Earth observation, communications, meteorological, environmental, agricultural, and oceanographic monitoring applications. GEO KOMPSAT-2A (Geostationary Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite) is South Korea's first dedicated geostationary weather satellite. Teledyne provided sensors: Infrared HgCdTe (MCT) focal plane arrays on AMI (Advanced Meteorological Imager) #GEOKOMPSAT #WSW2024 #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceMatters #WSW #Space4Climate #WorldSpaceWeek2024 #EarthObservation

It's Day 4 of #WorldSpaceWeek! The MetOp Second Generation mission, or MetOp-SG for short, will follow-on from the first series of MetOp satellites, which currently provide meteorological observations from polar orbit, and which have had the biggest impact on the accuracy of numerical weather prediction. The Meteosat satellites, which hover 36 000 km above the equator in geostationary orbit, can monitor rapidly evolving events for now-casting and short-term weather prediction. Teledyne provided sensors: Three variants of CCD314 on Ultraviolet Visible Near-infrared Shortwave (UVNS) instrument/ESA’s Sentinel-5, and CIS119 on METImage radiometer. #Meteosat #MeteosatSatellites #EUMETSAT #WSW2024 #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceMatters #WSW #Space4Climate #WorldSpaceWeek2024 #EarthObservation

It's Day 3 of #WorldSpaceWeek! MethaneSAT is the only methane-detecting satellite that sees the whole picture. It measures pollution from millions of small sources around the world. Teledyne Space Imaging provided Sensors: GeoSnap-18 2K×2K infrared focal plane array on Spectrometer-1 and Spectrometer-2. Teledyne Space Imaging supplied two HgCdTe focal plane arrays (FPAs) to measure O2 in the 1.249-1.305 µm band and measure CH4 and O2 in the 1.598-1.683 µm band. Each spectrometer images a 200 km swath width, at 0.24 – 0.5% precision, with a resolution of 100×400 m2. #MethaneSAT #WSW2024 #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceMatters #WSW #Space4Climate #WorldSpaceWeek2024 #EarthObservation #EnvironmentalDefenseFund

It's Day 2 of #WorldSpaceWeek! Equipped with four instruments, the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) satellite mission has been designed to make a range of different measurements that together will shed new light on the role that clouds and aerosols play in regulating Earth’s climate Teledyne e2v provided sensors: Custom CCD243 for the Atmospheric LIDAR (ATLID) instrument. The Atmospheric Lidar (ATLID) provides vertical profiles of aerosols and thin clouds. It operates at a wavelength of 355 nm and has a high-spectral resolution receiver and depolarisation channel. #WSW2024 #WorldSpaceWeek #SpaceMatters #WSW #Space4Climate #WorldSpaceWeek2024 #EarthObservation #EarthCAREsatellite #EarthCARE
