Today marks the 1-year anniversary of the go-live of Medway NHS Foundation Trust Care Co-ordination Centre and the electronic Bed & Capacity Management (eBCM) system from #TeleTracking UK. In the year since going live, supported by this real-time operational visibility, MFT has significantly improved care access, care delivery, and is now managing patient flow more efficiently and effectively contributing to the delivery of outstanding patient care. Some key achievements: 🚀 50% reduction in patient wait time (from ED to a released bed) from 4 hours to 2 hours. 💼 50 hours of additional nursing time released back into delivering care daily through the use of a dedicated bed cleaning team. 🛏️ Bed availability: The time from when a patient leaves a bed until it is available for the next patient has improved from an average of 150 minutes to just 68 minutes. Congratulations on reaching these 1-year milestones! We look forward to our continued collaboration to keep operational efficiencies high, ensure staff hours are utilized effectively, and increase the quality of patient care. #HealthcareInnovation #OperationalExcellence #NHS #PatientCare #HealthTech

In his recent speech at the Labour Party Conference, the UK Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, outlined key priorities for the future of healthcare in the UK. He emphasized the need to improve patient outcomes, reduce waiting times, and enhance NHS workforce conditions. The speech highlighted several strategic areas, such as leveraging technology to optimize patient flow and building stronger partnerships with private providers to increase capacity. For healthcare leaders and decision-makers, this is an opportunity to consider how innovative solutions—such as #TeleTracking’s capacity management platform—can support these objectives. By streamlining operations and ensuring the efficient use of resources, hospitals can better meet demand and achieve sustainable improvements in care delivery. It’s crucial to stay informed on policy changes and understand how technology can play a role in driving these goals forward. In his speech, the UK Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, made some key points that are consistent with TeleTracking's work with the NHS. By helping trusts manage beds and capacity, the NHS can significantly improve its growing backlog and waiting list for care. The introduction of specialist clinical 'crack teams' aims to bring expertise directly to hospitals in need. These teams, made up of surgeons and other healthcare professionals, focus on identifying inefficiencies and transforming the way capacity is used. By streamlining processes and removing bottlenecks, the aim is to see more patients without compromising quality. The initial rollout will prioritise hospitals in areas with the highest long-term sickness absence rates, a strategic move to address health inequalities and reduce the economic impact on local communities. The aim is to enable individuals to return to work sooner, supporting both the local economy and the health system. These reforms are not just about improving healthcare - they are also about stimulating economic growth. By reducing waiting times and increasing patient throughput, more people will be able to receive timely treatment and return to their daily lives, boosting productivity and prosperity across the UK. The upcoming NHS 10-year plan aims to address critical challenges in a complex healthcare landscape. As patient demand continues to rise and resources become more limited, this strategy focuses on sustainability, efficiency, and prioritization. The Health Service Journal article outlines why the NHS must now decide what to fix—and what not to fix—to ensure long-term success. The top three article takeaways are: 1. Prioritization of Issues: The NHS must identify what not to fix, as attempting to solve every problem will be unfeasible. 2. Sustainability Over Expansion: A shift towards maintaining core services rather than expanding them will be necessary for long-term sustainability. 3. Workforce Focus: Workforce resilience and support are critical, especially as the NHS battles ongoing staff shortages. To fix all the problems Lord Ara Darzi has identified, the NHS needs to prioritise three to four goals at a time, writes Steve Black. https://lnkd.in/ehPwbQBZ

Lord Darzi’s 163-page report on the NHS emphasizes the need for change due to rising patient demand, low satisfaction, and limited resources. However, true reform requires a different approach to primary care. Instead of simply increasing GP numbers, a focus on digital innovation, integrated care systems, and workforce resilience is crucial. By leveraging digital solutions, improving care platforms, and empowering healthcare professionals with better tools and career paths, the UK can build a more sustainable healthcare system. Lord Darzi’s report is a clear and detailed diagnosis of the challenges facing the NHS. We look forward to working with the Government and leaders in health and care as they begin the hard work of rebuilding the NHS. Digital healthcare will be right at the heart of the reforms to come and our members will make a huge contribution to the future health of the nation. https://lnkd.in/e4AVjxBj

As healthcare evolves beyond traditional boundaries, hospitals face the dual challenge of remaining operationally sustainable while meeting the demand for integrated, accessible care. Here are some areas that can help hospitals navigate this path: 1. Operational Efficiency: Other industries leverage workflow automation and data-driven optimization to remove inefficiencies. Healthcare should be no different. Hospitals need an Operational Platform that complements their Electronic Medical Record (EMR), offering automated workflows, improved resource utilization, streamlined patient journeys, and data-backed planning. 2. Data-Driven Clinical Excellence: Measuring what matters is crucial in today’s competitive healthcare landscape. Integrating a hospital’s Operational Platform with their EMR allows for shared visibility and collaboration across a wider network of care delivery. This data-driven approach enables hospitals to measure the end-to-end patient care journey. 3. Co-opetition: A new term in healthcare, co-opetition refers to collaboration among historically competitive organizations. As patients take more control of their care delivery, hospitals must work collaboratively to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right places, with the right resources. Health systems have the best visibility, scope, and consumer trust to remain the epicenter of care, acting as the integrated and central hub for wider care delivery. When the Prime Minister says things are "worse than we ever imagined"... but when there are also some really good things happening across the health ecosystem... ... could we not do more of what is already working? We need to be positive and believe there is a way forward (we are and we do) ⬇️
What about more of what's already working?
