Now I've had time to reflect on an incredible weekend at The Blend, I wanted to say thanks to everyone that attended and made the event what it was, it's an event for the independent garage community, and it's each and every person that attends that makes it so special. It still amazes me how honest, open and willing to share knowledge everyone is. The word community is often thrown around but I honestly believe that what we've all built together is exactly that, a true community, that has transcended Garage Hive.
It's so important that we don't become a group that's intimidating for others to join. Over the weekend I witnessed over and over again existing community members speaking to first timers, which we were all once before.
I am a big advocate of business training, consultation, reading business books, self improvement etc, but nothing comes close to what you can learn from others that are willing to share their stories, warts and all. I believe that this sort of networking, is exactly how we all collectively raise the standards of this industry together.
A special mention to Kitty, Dawn and Ray who are the superstars of The Blend, months and months of planning down to the smallest details, executed brilliantly by the entire team, I just turned up this year and got to enjoy it without the pressure of a presentation. Thanks to Kirsty for organising the after party again this year too.... epic.
My biggest shout out though goes to the presenters, especially the group that presented for the first time. Some people are naturally gifted at presenting but others have to push themselves way outside their comfort zones, only for the benefit of others. I love that The Blend has become an event for people to share their stories and learnings, often for the first time. This is what it's all about. Legendary dinner speech from David Massey too, a well deserved standing ovation, after speaking about a subject that I know hit home with so many.
Collectively the community managed to raise over £15,000 for the Ben Automotive Industry Charity, which is mind-blowing generosity from everyone, for a charity that is needed more now than ever before.
The event couldn't happen without the sponsors, massive shout out to Castrol, The Race Group, Euro Car Parts Ltd. and GSF Car Parts, Pichler Werkzeug GmbH, partslink24, Pagid UK & ROI, Garage Services Online, Micheldever Tyre Services, 1TEC Auto Hub, Autotech Group, Autogem Invicta Ltd, Auto IQ, Diagnostic Connections and DC Lubricants.
Over the coming months we will be listening to feedback from everyone with the aim of continuing to improve the event in any way that we can, we need really honest feedback from everyone that attended.
Thank you ❤️
