Yesterday's NCFE and FE News Innovation in Assessment event for Week of VocTech featured lots of insightful advice from education and technology leaders In this episode, Simon Wheatley, Sales Operations Director at our portfolio company FlashAcademy® brought a technological perspective to the conversation When asked how we can make data more accessible and actionable, Simon expressed that technology can take away the burden of time associated with data, allowing educators to engage in more useful activities in real-time with their students. To do that, you need consistent data that is free from bias, granular enough to be useful, and it has to be traceable and accessible. As the conversation evolved, the panellists reflected on the importance of reflecting on the purpose of why you are collecting and sharing data in the first place. Simon built upon this by sharing that "our challenge as technology providers is to be able to segment the data and layer it down in strata so people can look at things from a trust-level down to an institutional level down to college level or group level or regional level. If so, you can catch up on the conversation now over on YouTube ⤵️ https://bit.ly/4krTJL3 Led by our CEO Rebecca Garrod-Waters and our Chair of Trustees Dominic Gill, this session provided Ufi Trustees with the opportunity to share their perspectives on adult skills and the change required to ensure adults, communities and industries across the UK have the skills needed to thrive in work. The session started with a warm welcome to the Week of VocTech, our free programme of events and content happening this week, followed by an introduction to the most recent members to have joined our board of trustees. Many insightful points were raised throughout the conversation. When discussing the role investments play in Ufi's mission, David Chapman shared how we want to be "at the forefront of investing sustainably and with mission in mind", noting how he believes the Ufi Ventures portfolio allows us to be more granular with our impact.
