The Záchranka app, part of our NG-SOS emergency response system in the Czech Republic, has celebrated nine years of operation. 🎂 🆘Since its launch, Záchranka has been downloaded by over 3.2 million users, with over 180,000 emergency calls made through the app and thousands more directed to the Mountain Rescue Service and the Czech Red Cross Water Rescue Service. "It's not just about numbers. Behind every call is a story, often a critical life situation where the Záchranka app played a vital role." 👩💻 Every half second, a child makes their first click online and enters a world full of opportunities, but also risks. Around 1 in 10 children become victims of online bullying every month. 1 in 10 also say they never feel safe online. Through our new partnership with Save the Children UK, we will be introducing a new digital skills and resilience training programme for children, as part of our Skills Upload Jr programme. 👇 Watch the video below to hear how this programme will help to shape a healthier, safer digital landscape for young people across Europe. #SkillsUploadJr #VodafoneFoundation #DigitalSkills #SaveTheChildren

As we gear up to the finale of our Skills Upload Jr Challenge, we're celebrating the thousands of children across Europe that have taken part in this year's contest. “Technology can help make the world fairer and more equal. And this is only possible if technology is also designed by all people, so that the needs, ideas and thoughts of all people are incorporated into problem solving. And that only happens when we put girls in technology." Güncem Campagna, Founder of Tech & Teach, Partner of Coding For Tomorrow. This #InternationalWomensDay, we must address the persistent gender digital divide across Europe. Women represent just 35% of students in STEM education and hold less than one third of positions in the technology sector. Evidence shows that girls who start to learn digital skills younger have much better outcomes in staying in STEM. Through our Skills Upload Jr programme, we're helping to build digital skills amongst children across Europe. 👩💻 Watch the video below to hear how Skills Upload Jr is supporting students and teachers in Germany, through our Coding For Tomorrow programme. 📱 #IWD25 #VodafoneFoundation #DigitalSkills #SkillsUploadJr #CodingForTomorrow

Time for a big question. How can we bridge the gap between digital development and climate resilience, especially in education, emergency response and health? Digital technology is crucial for advancing the SDGs and building resilience in affected communities. But as the climate crisis worsens, digital solutions must adapt. 📱🌎 Education and health systems are already suffering. In 2024, nearly a quarter of a billion children had their education disrupted by climate crises, according to UNICEF. From flooding to heat waves, maternal and child health, outcomes are increasingly precarious in vulnerable regions AI and other digital innovations could help drive progress on 80% of the SDGs—but only if they are climate-conscious, resilient, and adaptable to the pressures of a warming world. We've been with Devex at MWC Barcelona, starting conversations to unearth potential solutions. If you weren't able to join us, please share your ideas in the comments below.👇 All ideas are welcome! 📷 (L-R): Jake White (Street Child), Kaan Cetinturk (UNICEF), Molly Lesher (OECD ), Alan Robbins (Devex), Doreen Bogdan-Martin (International Telecommunication Union), Sangbu Kim (World Bank), Jen Hawes-Hewitt (Google), Lisa Felton (Vodafone Foundation), Joakim Reiter (Vodafone Group), Hovig Etyemezian (UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency), Robert Opp (UNDP) and Kami Dar(Uniti Networks). #MWC25 #MobileWorldCongress #VodafoneFoundation #ClimateResilience Vodafone
