Last week, thirteen dedicated Wates team members, including Lorraine Carroll, Senior Secretary at Wates Developments Group, participated in the Assisted Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) programme. Led by our inspiring charity partner, PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide this two-day course provided invaluable skills and insights into suicide prevention, equipping our team with the tools to offer support when it’s needed most. In England and Wales alone, 6,069 people felt there was no other choice but to end their lives in 2023. By participating in ASIST, our colleagues, including Lorraine, are now better prepared to intervene, listen, and provide a lifeline to those who may be struggling. The training underscored the importance of truly listening—creating a safe space where someone can openly share their experiences and, in doing so, potentially rediscover hope and safety. As mental health advocates, we believe in fostering a culture of understanding and support across Wates. The ASIST course is a vital part of our wider commitment to mental health and wellbeing, ensuring that our team members feel prepared and empowered to assist those around them. If you’re considering similar training, we encourage you to explore it. Sometimes, just one conversation can change a life.

This week, Susan Whiting, our Residential Investment Manager, and Wates Developments Intern Isabel Wates, visited Oakley Grange in Hampshire to see the terrific progress of our joint venture (HBJV).    Set in picturesque Oakley, Hampshire, this exceptional new development is a stone's throw away from local amenities and areas of outstanding natural beauty. It's not just the location that's impressive, but also the 110 new, energy-efficient homes it brings to the community, 40% of which are affordable housing.   The pair were hosted by our JV partners and the award-winning 5-star Homebuilder Miller Homes. We are thankful to Amy Nott (Sales Manager at Miller Homes) and @Angie Cross (Assistant Site Manager at Oakley Grange—Miller Homes) for their warm welcome and site tour.   If you like the look of the development as much as we do, you may be interested to learn that there is an incentive weekend this Saturday and Sunday between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Miller team will be sharing their range of incredible autumn offers, including Deposit Contribution, Stamp Duty Paid, or even the opportunity to benefit from a lower mortgage rate with the Own New scheme.   To find out more about our housebuilder joint ventures, please visit: https://lnkd.in/edRtBErj   #JointVenturePartnerships #WatesDevelopments #MillerHomes #OakleyGrange
