Dr. Angela Wilkinson, the World Energy Council Secretary General and CEO, joined an inspiring panel of global innovators to envision the world in 2030 at the #FII8 closing ceremony, reminding us that the journey to a resilient energy future will be collaborative, innovative, and multi-dimensional. Her call for a transformative leadership mindset – one that’s adaptable, inclusive, and rooted in real solutions for sustainable energy transitions – is critical as we face the volatile impacts of climate change and drive forward toward #NetZero. Looking forward to seeing these discussions continue at the World Energy Congress 2026 in Riyadh – an opportunity to deepen the dialogue on global energy transformation. Don’t miss Dr. Wilkinson’s closing remarks below 👇 #HumanisingEnergy #WEC2026 #EnergyLeadership #Transformation #ClimateAction
🌐 “Transformation is a new leadership mindset, not a one-size-fits-all, straight line journey.” Our Secretary General and CEO Dr Angela Wilkinson was in Riyadh for #FII8, where she spoke about AI, the role women can play in advancing sustainable energy transitions, and the transformative mechanisms all societies need to regear themselves towards managing the volatile impacts of extreme weather events. ⚡ Yesterday, she helped close FII Institute 2024 by sharing her vision of what the world might look like in 2030 alongside some of the world's brightest minds, Di-Ann Eisnor, CEO, Crews by Core, Dr. Kam Ghaffarian, Executive Chairman & Co-Founder, Axiom Space, Travis Kalanick, CEO, CloudKitchens, Andrew N. Liveris, Former Chairman and CEO, Dow, Dr. Kai-Fu Lee, Chairman & CEO, Sinovation Ventures (创新工场) Ventures & CEO, 01.AI, and Daniel Yergin, Vice-Chairman, S&P Global. Special thanks to Richard Attias & Mariana Atencio for their excellent moderation and hosting. 👉 Watch the illuminating closing speech here: https://lnkd.in/e3-vZbEt #FII #energytransition #climatechange #netzero #energy

Energy transitions have the potential to completely transform structural, gender and intergenerational inequalities, and this social transformation has been a key part of the World Energy Council’s agenda. We were the first to connect energy access and women’s equity in the 1930s. Our Women In Energy programmes, first started in Chile, bringing women working across the energy sector together in an ever growing network of young professionals to better understand the challenges and demands they face. Our Portuguese Member Committee (Associação Portuguesa da Energia)’s Women in Energy programme facilitates connections between women energy experts across the industry. Congratulations on a successful networking event! #WorldEnergyCongress #WEC2026 #RoadToRiyadh

🌍 Last week, our team attended the World Nuclear Symposium in London. Our collaboration with this key industry segment was first established after the Second World War and formalised in 1950, when the Council (then World Power Congress) convened to discuss the utilisation of atomic energy for industrial and domestic purposes, leading to the formation of the Atomic Energy Committee. A few years later, in 1954, then Chairman Vincent de Ferranti foregrounded the importance of nuclear energy for the development of the organisation, asserting the World Power Conference as the appropriate platform following U.S. President Eisenhower’s suggestion of an international conference on the peaceful use of atomic power. He famously noted that the WPC ‘really ought to be at the centre of these developments, which will have such importance for the future.’ Fast forward to today, the World Energy Council is driving the conversation on transitioning to a clean and just energy future. The critical role of nuclear energy will be part of the agenda at the next World Energy Congress in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 26-29 October 2026, where we’ll explore how smart innovations can accelerate more inclusive and sustainable energy transitions. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gU5Zrz8X #EnergyTransition #WorldEnergyCongress #NuclearEnergy #Innovation #RenewableEnergy #WEC2026 #nuclearsympo
Many thanks to World Nuclear Association on the space provided to continue our excellent collaborative relationship. Lots of optimism around nuclear’s renaissance in both large-scale build but also innovative SMR and micro reactor technology. Zero carbon, a key part of the net zero journey and a great dialogue to be a part of. World Energy Council World Energy Congress
