Working for Zurich UK and been able to motivate the team is a great benefit and Zurich Engineering - UK fully support us in making this happen as being remote home workers getting together is important for morale and being a better team. So on Friday I took the team axe throwing in Manchester. It was a great night with prizes to be won. A £20 Amazon voucher for hitting a 7 and £30 Amazon voucher for the winner or the winner takes all if no one hits a 7, well Ben Lahorgue wiped the floor with us all. Last week Jason Knowles, Stephen Watters, Haythem Jafer and Claire McManus represented Zurich Engineering in the annual ‘Lockton Charity Game Night’ attended by over 70 people in the Birmingham Insurance Industry. With games such as air hockey, basketball, Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4 and Golf, Zurich Engineering were the runaway leaders and here is the winning team, best photo we have sorry!! The event was organised for the Lockton Charitable Association and this year their chosen charity is Alzheimers Society An amazing amount of £5,090 was raised on the evening and Zurich Engineering donated a 4 ball round the Belfry that was auctioned for over £300 !! A great night for a great cause and an excellent opportunity to network with not only Lockton staff but our industry colleagues from other insurers, a huge thank you to Ian Price, Dee Kaur and all involved in this fantastic event.

Today we are celebrating #ArmedForcesDay Josh Doble joined Zurich Engineering - UK on a level 4 Engineer Surveyor Apprenticeship in 2021, following five years working within the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as an Aircraft Technician. Josh was responsible for the disassembly and rebuild of major flight critical assemblies. “I found that transitioning into working with Zurich Engineering was mixed - fairly easy in certain aspects whilst challenging in others. The main challenges for me came in the form of customer relations and work scheduling. In a military environment you learn to do what you are told and where to be at what time. As an engineer surveyor, we work on the opposite basis." #ArmedForcesWeek
Today being #ReservesDay, we caught up with Peter Coventry, one of our Engineer Surveyors who joined the Army Reserve seeking an additional sense of purpose and a new challenge during his spare time. As a Craftsman in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Peter is part of a diverse team providing engineering support to the Army. He's also able to apply his engineering knowledge and experience from 'civvie street', combined with learning a new trade, to maintain, repair and modify equipment. Peter will shortly commence trade training as a Metalsmith, specialising in welding, sheet metalwork and blacksmithing to fabricate solutions to engineering problems. Longer term, he aspires to qualify as a Class 1 Metalsmith whilst working his way up through the ranks to become a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer.
