NMMC Invests $23 Million to Boost Muruntau Mine Capacity! Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company (NMMC) is investing over $23 million to expand its Muruntau mine, the world's largest open pit gold mine. This investment will significantly increase our capacity to transport rock mass by 27 million cubic meters per year. The expansion includes:  ✅Enhancements to the Northeast Cycle and Flow Technology Complex, a key driver for Muruntau’s development, which will boost transportation capacity by 15 million cubic meters annually. This project will involve new conveyor systems, power lines, and a 1.1 thousand-meter extension of the tipping conveyor line, with a projected cost of over $8.2 million. ✅Construction of a second conveyor line in the Muruntau open pit, complementing the existing 1,877.4-meter line. The new line, extending over 1,000 meters, will enhance our transportation capabilities by 12 million cubic meters per year. This project is estimated to cost more than $15.3 million. NMMC Celebrates Railway Transportation Workers Day! Each first Sunday in August, Uzbekistan celebrates its railway transportation workers. Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company (NMMC) heavily relies on its workforce of over 2,000 employees to ensure the smooth transportation of ore. The company's railroads span over 450 kilometers, with 54 mainline and shunting diesel locomotives, 882 freight cars and 17 passenger cars facilitating freight and passenger transportation. As part of the "Digital Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy, NMMC is committed to integrating modern information technologies and IT solutions into its operations. This commitment is exemplified by the recent upgrade at the Muruntau station of the Railway Transport Directorate, where a new modern microprocessor-based digitalized system was implemented to control railway freight traffic. The South Mining Unit - largest division with underground mining operations We continue to introduce you to our business units, and today we are presenting the South Mining Unit. This division is unique compared to our other units because its mining operations are conducted underground. As of today, there are 6 thousand employees working in this business unit. At the "Zarmitan", "Guzhumsay" and "Marjanbulak" mines an average of 7.6 million cubic meters of rock mass is extracted annually. Meanwhile, Hydrometallurgical Plant № 4 and the Marjanbulak gold recovery workshop process 2.7 million tons of ore. Here, dedicated individuals with a remarkable spirit are at work. NMMC is investing USD1 billion to boost gold production! 📈   This ambitious program includes 11 projects, 8 of which relate to the Central Mining Unit of the enterprise, with a focus on modernization and local sourcing. NMMC Celebrates the 55th Anniversary of HMP-2 and the First Gold Bar This year marks the 55th anniversary of NMMC's flagship production facility, Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2 (HMP-2). Since its inception, HMP-2 has been central to our operations, managing the complete technological process—from grinding ore containing precious metals to producing high-quality cast gold. A historic milestone was achieved on July 21, 1969, when the plant produced its first gold bar, weighing 11 kg 820 g, from ore mined at the Muruntau mine. Today, HMP-2 employs approximately 3,400 people and processes over 50 million tons of ore annually.
