The discussions focused on draft decrees and circulars, with detailed recommendations on issues concerning the member companies. The chambers also agreed on developing a shared mechanism to address key business challenges. The next meeting, featuring chamber Chairs, is expected to bring further strategic decisions. We are excited to announce our efforts to restart the activities of the Hospitality and Tourism Committee. The first committee meeting was held on October 4 from 10:00 AM at AmCham Vietnam HCMC Office or online via Zoom, with a small group of highly active experts in the sector. They discussed the challenges facing Vietnam’s tourism and hospitality industry, including cumbersome visa policies, a lack of comprehensive destination marketing strategies, and an underqualified workforce. They also emphasized the importance of cultural and culinary destinations in attracting tourists, as well as the atmosphere of outdoor events. We are hoping to have more members join the next meeting. We are pleased to announce our new leadership team: Dr. Bob Connolly from Crossroads Vietnam as the chair, Dr. Nuno F. Ribeiro from RMIT University Vietnam as vice chair, and Mr. Walter Power from The Grand Ho Tram as the board liaison of the committee.
