Promoting Science-Based Shrimp Farming in Hòa Bình, Bạc Liêu 🌟🛰️ Recently, Farmext organized a product introduction event in the intensive shrimp farming region of Hòa Bình, Bạc Liêu, aiming to promote a science-driven and technology-based approach to shrimp farming.     At the event, we assisted local farmers in downloading and using the Farmext App, a smart shrimp farm management tool that helps them monitor and manage their farming processes effectively. Additionally, Farmext provided free initial testing vouchers at Farmext LAB to support farmers in managing shrimp health.     📈 This is one of the effective customer outreach activities that received positive feedback from Tepbac.     👉 Farmext is dedicated to supporting the shrimp farming community by helping farmers apply science and technology in production, improving quality and efficiency in aquaculture.

What’s More Important in Shrimp Farming: Productivity or Predictability?     In shrimp farming, the question of prioritizing productivity or stability often sparks debate. Many sustainable farming technologies developed by scientists offer long-term benefits, such as reducing environmental impact and improving product quality. However, some farmers hesitate to adopt these models due to concerns that productivity may be lower compared to traditional methods.     When optimal water conditions are available—meaning minimal harmful algae and pathogens—the productivity of traditional super-intensive systems can reach up to 8 kg/m3, higher than the average yield of recirculating or non-water-exchange models. However, such ideal conditions are becoming increasingly rare. Many shrimp ponds today have a success rate of less than 50%, frequently impacted by severe diseases like EHP, white feces syndrome, and white spot syndrome.     While these sustainable systems may offer lower yields in a single crop cycle, recirculating and biofloc systems significantly reduce disease risks, enhance predictability of output, and decrease price volatility and water resource crises. This, in turn, helps protect ecosystems and ensures long-term profitability for farmers. These models do take time to show their full potential and require technical improvements to boost overall productivity.     Some farmers, pressured by short-term economic goals or the need to quickly recoup investments, are reluctant to transition to more sustainable farming models. This is where the shrimp industry urgently needs financial support, technology transfer, and education to help farmers recognize the value of predictability and sustainability.     By doing so, we can build a shrimp farming industry that is not only sustainable for the environment but also economically viable for farmers in the long run!
