♻️𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? At the workshop "How ESG is Shaping the Energy Transition" co-organized by VietStar Training and Consulting JSC and Singapore Management University (SMU) on the morning of October 12th, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam stated: "𝑉𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑛𝑎𝑚 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑖𝑑 𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑖𝑐 𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑤𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑑𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑠, 𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑛 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑦 𝑑𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑑." "This transition will require significant financial and technological investment and this is where ESG frameworks come into play," Ambassador Jaya Ratnam said, adding that ESG investments can act as catalysts for Vietnam's energy transition in three ways. Firstly, ESG-driven investments prioritize renewable energy projects, driving down carbon emissions and supporting Vietnam's climate goals. Secondly, ESG investors are focusing on the social dimension, ensuring that energy projects benefit local communities. Thirdly, ESG frameworks encourage better corporate governance, transparency, and accountability in the energy sector. ♻️𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 Mr Eddie Tritton, Executive Director of Executive Development at SMU and Co-Director of the Vietnam Singapore Board Forum (VSBF), argued that energy transition is not only a necessity but also an opportunity. "Energy transition is not just about switching power sources. It is about rethinking the way we produce, distribute, and consume energy, and it requires the combined efforts of governments, businesses, and individuals," said Eddie Tritton. According to Mrs. Mary Pham, Director of the Vietnam Singapore Board Forum (VSBF) and CEO of VIETSTAR, ASEAN countries including Singapore, the Philippines, and Vietnam are implementing strong energy transition strategies. A prime example is Vietnam's Hydrogen Development Strategy, which took effect on February 7, 2024, supporting sustainable development goals, expanding electricity capacity, and reducing carbon emissions. ♻️𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐓𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑 - 𝐒𝐌𝐔 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 During the workshop, Singapore Management University (SMU) and VIETSTAR co-developed and launched the 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. 🌍 The world is facing immense challenges related to climate change, social inequality, and environmental issues. Increasing extreme weather events, depletion of natural resources, and geopolitical instability have created an urgent need for a more sustainable development model. In this context, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has become the new standard for business operations globally. With rapid economic growth in Vietnam, the increasing demand for energy and resources has put significant pressure on the environment and society. The Vietnamese government has recognized the importance of sustainable development and has made numerous commitments at international forums such as the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). 📊 PwC's 2022 report on the readiness to practice ESG in Vietnam shows a significant increase in ESG awareness. The fact that 57% of foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises have clear ESG commitments and plans, 58% of listed companies, and 40% of private enterprises have made ESG commitments or plans is a positive sign. This demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of sustainable development. However, the journey from commitment to action for businesses remains challenging. Although 80% of businesses claim to be committed to ESG, only 28% have effective ESG monitoring indicators, and 70% have no or very limited ESG reporting. This shows that despite interest, businesses are still facing many difficulties in implementing ESG effectively and systematically. 🎗 Understanding these pressing challenges, VIETSTAR and UNIVERSITY OF ULSAN have partnered strategically to pioneer the Sustainability Leadership Programme for Executives (SLP). The program is designed to equip high-level leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to drive their businesses beyond limits and toward a sustainable future. The core content of the program: 🔹 Key competencies of sustainable and transformative leaders 🔹 Diagnosing sustainability challenges 🔹Effective leadership for sustainability 🔹Integrating sustainability into performance measurement 🔹Selecting KPIs to promote business sustainability 🔹Legal requirements for sustainability reporting 🔹Achieving credible sustainability reporting 🔹Balancing sustainability and business profitability 🔹Creating markets for sustainable products 🔹Transitioning customers from unsustainable to sustainable products 👉 Register link: https://lnkd.in/gpGPkJeS #SLP #SustainabilityLeadershipProgramme #VIETSTAR #UOU #sustainabledevelopment #executivedirectortraining
