VoltaGrid’s trailer-mounted, fast-responding 2.5-MWe natural gas generator goes from stopped to rated load in just 32.5 seconds. Each genset contains on-board controls that allow it to operate as a standalone unit and in multiple-unit configurations to meet your exact power needs.

Keeping it Clean

While our reciprocating natural gas generators provide some of the cleanest portable power on the market today, we’ve designed two complementary technologies to further reduce our emissions.

First, VoltaGrid’s fuel delivery and gas conditioning services — included in our turnkey package — enables our gensets to use CNG, LNG, field gas, residue gas, and even renewable natural gas (RNG). Our proprietary gas conditioning system lowers the carbon intensity of the fuel to the generator’s optimal heating value, thereby reducing our emissions. Additionally, gas conditioning will allow us to inject hydrogen gas (H₂) — paving the way for even lower emissions in the future.

Second, VoltaGrid’s proprietary SCR reduces our genset’s criterion pollutant emissions by an additional 85% to 97% versus the manufacturer’s specifications. With CO₂-equivalent emissions averaging at 1,000 lbs/MWh and NOx emissions as low as 0.155 lb/MWh, VoltaGrid’s mobile power solution is on-par or cleaner than grid-supplied power in many parts of the United States.

With the capacity to input up to 10 MWe of grid-connected or on-site power and output 2,000 A at 13.8 kV per switchgear unit, VoltaGrid’s mobile microgrid can meet the power needs for every application.

More importantly, we’ve designed our switchgear to ensure reliability. Our robust and redundant design ensures there is no single point of failure enabling us to provide redundant supply feeds to our customers. Our energy-storage system provides battery backup and under-voltage ride-through protection. VoltaGrid’s natural gas generators are black-start capable to -10°F. And our innovative, edge-computing energy control schema brings artificial intelligence (AI) to the field.

VoltaGrid’s proprietary, on-board energy control schema is the mastermind behind our switchgear. The AI-driven, edge-computing control schema provides secure and integrated control & monitoring of all energy resources in VoltaGrid’s mobile microgrid.

The schema detects and mitigates the kinds of complications that cause critical faults and hamper function, such as rapid changes in customer load and utility system power quality variations, and adjusts the microgrid’s energy resources to ensure a reliable power out-feed.

In addition, the on-board energy control schema aggregates and transmits data to/from on-site remote controls and the Cloud for near-real-time reporting of assets’ condition, operations, power demand, fuel consumption, emissions, and more via VoltaGrid’s Access Innovation Portal.
