Never say Never, as they say, maybe just "later"... that's what happened to me with Vorga. Seen them live, was not in the right mood maybe, but the new release "Beyond the Palest Star" convinced me to give this album a try too, and I was happy I did. Vorga play very good, fine melodic Black Metal !!

Following a stunning debut EP in 'Radiant Gloom' which landed them a label deal, German black metal band Vorga return with an absolutely scintillating full length that expands upon the music on their debut and takes it to new heights. Californian quartet defining themselves as Sci-Fi black metal, maybe due to cosmic and interstellar topics, sounding like blackened death metal too ("The Maw"). It's a well-balanced melodic black metal album, with some fast-paced tracks and nice rhythmic transitions reminding me of Swiss band Celtic Frost (e.g. Terminal Odyssey).
