Initiatives
Around the country and in the states, AHIP monitors and advocates on a range of important health care issues. Learn more about some of our policy initiatives.
Coverage@Work
Coverage@Work (C@W) is a campaign to educate policymakers and the public about the value employer-provided coverage delivers to nearly 180 million Americans. C@W supports and advocates for market-based solutions that advance health, choice, affordability, and value for every American.
Healthier People Through Healthier Markets
Every American deserves access to affordable, comprehensive, high-quality coverage and care. But health care prices continue to escalate year after year, making coverage and care less accessible for everyone. This challenge can be tied directly to less competitive health care markets, and it calls for a comprehensive effort to spur the robust competition that is essential to providing Americans with more choices, better quality, and lower costs.
The American health care system has been tested in extraordinary ways in recent years. As we seek to move past the COVID-19 pandemic, now is the time to take action.
Fast PATH
Health insurance providers consistently seek ways to enhance the patient and provider experience. In January 2020, AHIP launched a new initiative called the Fast Prior Authorization Technology Highway (Fast PATH) better understand the impact of electronic prior authorization (ePA) on the prior authorization process.
Health Equity
Every American deserves affordable, high-quality care and health coverage regardless of health status, race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability. For years, health insurance providers have been committed to improving health equity and combating social determinants of health in our communities.
Project Link
AHIP’s Project Link brings together the best thinking in how to effectively address social barriers for the people we serve. And together, we will create new solutions to the challenges that still exist.
STOP Initiative
AHIP's Safe, Transparent Opioid Prescribing (STOP) Initiative is designed to support widespread adoption of clinical guidelines for pain care and opioid prescribing.
