Very effective to keep track of luggage on trips, but do not bury them too deeply!
I bought this 4-pack of Air Tags and used 2 for our backpacks, and 2 for our carry-on luggage. You have to set them up with a iPhone (or iPad) and use the "Find My" app to keep track of them, but they worked amazingly well on our recent trip to the Midwest. The Find My app kept us informed every single time we left them behind in a car or a house and walked or drove away. It even usually informed us of the exact street address where we had left any of these four items. Once we just parked the car in a parking lot and went into a restaurant, and the Find My app was warning us about the luggage left in the car in the parking lot! Another time we were boarding a bus and had left a backpack outside for the bus driver to load underneath, and we actually saw on the display the backpack "jump" from its position just outside the bus to its new position underneath the bus! That was very reassuring. I found it a little too easy to lose track of these Air Tags , so after labeling each one, I cut up the packaging to form a larger surface, then put that assembly into a plastic bag for insertion into each item. The only caution that I have is to not bury them deep in your luggage, because the one time I did that, that Air Tag did not seem to successfully communicate its position through the nearby Apple devices to our iPhones. I suggest an outside pocket somewhere on each item. Cheers!
