What's not to love with a Dr. Seuss book!?Loved the book as a kid! As an avid reader, I always try to purchase books for baby shower or birthdays or just for ourselves. Dr. Seuss has always been a favorite of mine and I most definitely give out the most.This book I purchased for my best friends newborn daughter and her oldest son. I also crochet so I made the kiddos a beanie to go along with it. ❤️

The Cat in the Hat series was one of the favorite bedtime stories I had read to my children almost 50 years ago. Somewhere in storage I still have the original but my baby grandson would probably graduate college before I could find it so I purchased it new. My son is lucky in that he gets to spend a lot of quality time with his baby boy, Lucas and loves to read to him. The book came well packaged and on time. I'm sure the future holds many more memorable moments of quality time spent reading the stories of the Cat in the Hat adventures. The books are kept in a beautiful box that I labeled “Lucas’s Magical Library” so he will have them as a keepsake for his children if he is lucky enough to become a parent or just a nice memory to have of him and his father.

The Cat in the Hat, first published in 1957 and written by Theodor Seuss Geisel (pen name "Dr. Seuss"), teaches the simple values of listening to your Mother and keeping one's living area clean and tidy.
While their Mother is away, the two children-- a boy and a girl --are visited by the Cat in the Hat, who wants none of this, desiring only to have fun and to mess up the home with his various toys, and his rambunctious little companions Thing One and Thing Two.
The book is long for a children's story at more than 60 pages, with abundant though simple text, and illustrations drawn in pen/pencil in only four colors, black, white, red, and blue. By today's standards these illustrations could be considered a bit creepy, the activity depicted wild and trippy. Even as a small child when first introduced to this book back around 1980 I thought the same, and I'm guessing it was even the same back in the time when the book was first released.
But as it is a children's book, a parent will likely be guiding their child through it, and, in this reviewer's opinion at least, what does it hurt to introduce children-- in an age-appropriate way --to the unpredictability of life, and of the importance of following the rules when others (like the Cat) encourage you not to?
The Cat in the Hat, by Dr. Seuss:
Let your children dream, and walk with them along the way, always letting them know that they are loved and appreciated-- which, I am guessing, was all that Mr. Geisel ever wanted.

What's not to love about Dr. Suess? I read the Cat in the Hat to my children and grandchildren. I bought this book for my husband (81 years old, and had never read the book....lol), and since the Carnival Cruise line theme is "Cat in the Hat" ( we cruise a lot on Carnival), I wanted my husband to know the story, as he would ask me questions about thing one and thing two, the fish in the cup, etc.....so, got the book, sat him next to me (as if he were a child....lol), and I read it to him.... complete with dramizatation, and made sure he looked at the pictures....lol. He liked the story (or maybe the attention), either way we love Dr. Suess books, and the Cat in the Hat is a great classic.
