This is one of the best self-help books I have ever read! Dr. Manly discusses the elements to relationships that everyone should be aware of and actively practice when getting to know someone (ie: dating). What is so incredible about this book is how it is applicable to EVERYONE regardless of their relationship status - whether you're dating or have been married for 25 years. Dr. Manly clearly discusses the issues that most people do not discuss but SHOULD in order to have long lasting and healthy relationships. I really appreciated all the conversations she indicated two people should have when dating because these conversations really do help guide the relationship in a healthy direction. The book is so good it should be made into a course!!

This book is one that I will keep and referencing for years to come. Not only does it lay out thoughtfully and carefully how to navigate the dating world, it does so non judgementally. In addition it is such a wonderful tool to flesh out who you are, what you want, and what you have to offer your future partner. The only downfall of this book is that it wasn't written soon. I really could have used it years ago, but I am so grateful I have it now. Well done and a must read for anyone that is navigating relationships.

I found this self-help book to be like that friend you go to to bounce your concerns off of and be reassured. Even if you are experienced in relationships of all sorts it was helpful to be reminded of the core factors that make all relationships prosper. Especially coming from a pandemic where mental fatigue can have you questioning what you have known for certain previously. Handy to refer to, helpful to gift as support to friends from afar.

I was excited to dive into this book after hearing Dr. Manly on a podcast, but I found it disappointing. The advice is mostly obvious and basically boils down to ‘know yourself and be a good person.’ The people that need to hear this are probably not going to read a book about dating. Also, there were too many stories for my taste, the characters were simplistic, and there seemed to be a bias against the male characters (perhaps this is a fair reflection of reality). By comparison, How to Not Die Alone was a much more helpful book for me. All that said, the advice in Date Smart is sound.

Have you ever wished for a dating coach? A supportive, friendly guide to traverse the adventures in dating? I certainly have.

Buy a journal at the same time. There are definitely times while reading this that you'll want to jot things down and work things out.

I enjoy Dr Manly's supportive tone, Dating Smart feels uplifting and encouraging for all folx. It's inclusive and loving in the very best ways.

This would make a wonderful gift for oneself or a loved one. I highly recommend it.
