    Extremely easy to use.
    5 out of 5 stars
    Extremely easy to use.
TLDR:This is a very easy to use 3D printer. I am mechanically and technically inclined so maybe I'm biased, but this was my first 3d printer and I got it working easily. I had three hiccups and resolved every one quickly. I'll explain those below for anyone that wants to know what the experience was like. There are some default settings that can be resolved with youtube and Reddit in a couple of minutes each. Don't panic if you hit a snag.------------------------------------------------------------------------------Experience:1) The box is packed really well. Externally, it was beat up in shipping but when I opened it, everything appeared to be unscathed. Everything was padded or padded and wrapped in foam cutouts.2) Although the instructions were mostly pictures, it was obvious which pieces belonged where. I only needed a moment or two to understand how the software worked and more importantly, why. YouTube and Reddit will help you a lot if you have questions.3) I had three issues with my printer when trying to set it up. I resolved an alignment issue by simple observation and the other two with reddit. They were the following:Small and resolved problems:a) The upper assembly with the x & y axis didn't sit flush with the tops of the four extruded aluminum posts. There are brackets that screws fasten through, horizontally, with reference to the ground. Loosen the screws on the inside L-brackets to flush up the assembly. This helps with alignment and to eliminate introducing any mechanical racking/twisting.b) Auto home didn't move the bed up and down, only the carriage moved the x & y axis. A quick search shows a reddit thread where it's fixed by cleaning the excess grease between the threads and the bushing on the z-axis lead screw is. If your machine is off, just rotate the collar and clean the excess grease as the platform travels upward. If it's on, disable the steppers and then rotate the collar. Resolved.c) When trying to pre-heat the bed and nozzle, my machine would power cycle like the mother board was defective. A quick search lead to a different reddit thread about a voltage selector. What I didn't notice during assembly was that a red switched was recessed inside of the metal housing (left of power cord connector) that was set to 230v. I made sure the power switch was off and then I flipped it to 115v, then turned power on. Resolved..Common themes I found by reading other people's posts about this printer:1)This printer doesn't have a Bed leveling option in the menu like older models or like some of the videos and threads explain. It has an auto home function. Auto home simply aligns the x & y axis to the back right corner (if you're facing at the LCD) and then moves the bed up the z-axis until the limit switch is mechanically triggered. Then you are supposed to disable steppers and just manually slide the hot-end around as needed. You don't need to flash/update anything; you're not missing anything2) Leveling the bed is also called tramming. This does not mean level to the ground. This means level or 'co-planar' to the hot-end nozzle. This made sense to be because of machinery that I have for woodworking but it seemed to come up a lot. Here it is for anybody that doesn't know: Your nozzle can place a thin bead of filament a fraction of a millimeter in diameter. Diameter is in reference to a circular or cylindrical object, so width is the same as hight when the object is on its side like a string. So then, if your nozzle is 2.0mm away from the bed surface on one corner and 0.5mm away from the bed surface on another corner, your printer is going to miss the target when trying to precisely place the bead of filament at an x-y coordinate. Alignment is important. To tram or to make co-planar makes a difference in your prints. Those last two probably belong in a reddit thread or at All3DP. Since I noticed a lot of people jump into this as a first printer and don't know, I figured I'd share and provide something here for SEO magic to find.

The is my first 3D printer so I have no object of comparison, but I've been pretty happy with it with some minor niggling. The only two materials I have printed is PLA and NylonX which have turned out really quality prints when everything is done correctly. Here are my thoughts on making this printer so much better than it already is and for first time 3D printer owners.
Assembly: WARNING - the power supply is flipped to something like 235V out of the box. If your house is running 110V, you need to flip the switch on the back of the power supply FIRST! The printed assembly instructions were fine and easy to follow. In a couple of cases, it was easier to have another set of hands though, but overall, it's just screwing things into place and getting the wiring correct. All of the wires are labeled so you just need to pay attention. Don't be too concerned about the nest of wires hanging everywhere when assembled but do pay attention to how you routed them. If done incorrectly, you can have one of the wires yanked out while the nozzle or the bed moves. Also, the spool holder is shown in the instructions to be assembled on the right side of back right post, extending the foot print of the printer sideways. You can rotate the spool holder to the inside of the back right post (see my picture) making the width of the printer no wider than where the LCD screen is mounted.
First steps: Watch some videos on how to level the bed. I've been using the 'paper method' with an index card and it's worked out great. Get familiar with some terminology so you can easily research what problems you may run into correcting your prints. Some terms off the top of my head: STL, gcode, slicer, extrusion, (x,y,z) axis, PLA, ABS.
Upgrades: The two upgrades that I would recommend maybe even before your first print is a glass bed and stiffer bed springs. If you're going to use glue or hairspray for better adhesion, the glass bed is easy to clean and the stiffer springs means less bed leveling between prints. I tried for an entire day to get the BLTouch to work and decided to just keep it disconnected. The instructions from Creality mentions a Z OffSet setting that's missing from their firmware and I went down a rabbit hole of recompiling new firmware that still didn't resolve my problem, so I would skip this unless you have a compelling reason to use it.
Additional thoughts: just use Cura as your Slicer and skip the Creality one which is just an older version, reskinned version of Cura. Look up "Upgrades for Ender 5" for some ideas of what you can add to your printer (like the tool holders and LCD panel cover in my picture). Join /r/FixMyPrint, /r/3Dprinting, and /r/ender5 on Reddit for helpful resources and tips. The firmware that came with the printer is fine so don't worry about flashing it with anything new. The microSD card has a few STLs on there you should print first with the filament that came with the printer or look for benchy on Thingiverse.

First thing to know is initial setup can take up to 10 minutes. The input shaping phase was very long(may Rev up mother board fans multiple times) for me to the point I feared a bad motherboard after research. When it got past first time set up I had nearly flawless prints. You need to make sure to disconnect the Teflon tube and feed the plastic by hand (at least for pla or abs, not relevant to tpu as I haven't tried this material yet im drying it.) into the unlocked 🔓extruder while it is pre heated. When plastic is extruding, you then lock it 🔐 and extrude via screen. It does waste a lot of plastic when 'extrudeing' setup (in photos, looks like a string with circles on a pei bed; hand for reference). Extruding is misspelled and other menu items are misspelled and cut off, but understandable just not pretty. Bed from my experience does not need glue and performs better without it. I am printing a side spool holder, as the rear spool holder is not a good place for it.
Very mesmerizing watching it print the included benchy and impressive to see it print so quickly.
I print around 300mm/s for hyper pla and adjust accordingly with tuning for other materials and needs for accurate parts.
Overall solid printer( after owning ender 3 v2 for over a year) this machine is a breeze to be a creater and not a printer tinkerer.
Will update after a few months of usage.
All 4 white prints in photo 4 were printed the first night I set up the printer

Decibel readings shown at 500 to 600 mm/s on included benchy, before and after I added sound dampening to: sides, lower and lid of printer. Making a miniscule change in reverberated motor sounds and fan sounds.

Fans can be obnoxious at high print speeds. But double the average of ender 3 v2 (my last printer) I can have the fans nearly silent at 150mm/s.

Compared to what I've experienced before this printing.. this is am amazing device and I hope it holds up. Ill definitely update I receive any feedback 🫡

Update: I received my printer on January 23rd. It is no longer functional after very light usage. Less than 50 hours of printing and the extruder fails every single print after the first layer.

Contacted creality and they said they're on a 2 week break for Chinese new year so I'm SOL. Extremely dissatisfied as I was hoping this would be a solid product but after less than a month of usage I have to say it is not. Considering to return and use refund towards a Bambu lab or Prusa. This is not a reliable product. Most recent photo shows extrusion error despite changing almost every variably independently over the last 6 or so days.

My wife wanted to buy me a 3D printer for my 77th birthday (never to old to learn). I did a lot of research and settled on the Creality K1.

I opened it just 3 days ago. Set-up was pretty straight forward with only two or three issues that required some Google research. During the last 2 days I’ve run through all of the Creality Print calibration steps to fine tune it using the Creality Hyper PLA supplied with the printer. Those all came out well and I’m pretty happy with all of the test results.

I printed the 16 minute Benchy benchmark test that turned out very good - considering it is my first real print. There are a couple of filament strings inside the cabin. The hull is very smooth. The cabin roof has some minor ripple texture.

I know that some people have had problems with the K1. For me it has been easy and pretty simple to set-up and begin using. The documentation from Creality is lacking in a few areas, but there are many, many articles and videos out there from the 3D printing community that more than adequately fill in the gaps. The K1 is a beautiful and well-built machine and the Creality Print software is reasonably easy to use - again with some help from Internet contributors.

I highly recommend the K1 for beginners who are willing to do some research and invest time in learning the many variables and details involved in 3D printing.

Good set to upgrade your ender. The springs help the bed stay more in tune and stable for longer. The feeder is also a very good upgrade

I've been after a 3d printer for a while now, after a lot of research and video watching I decided on this one, and a good choice it was, it's on almost everyday and has made a lot of nice things, it doesn't use a lot of energy which was a concern, I would recommend it, perfect machine.
