Not bad for the price, but could use some improvements...
I got this device when it was still around $40. I would say especially now the price has got down, it is certainly a worthwhile investment to convert a dumb garage door opener into a smart one that you can control via your smartphone or allow Amazon Key access through the Key app. Here are my general thoughts on this device:The good:1. Great battery life - Since it uses a larger-sized coin battery, a single battery usually gets about 10 months of operation in my case during normal operation.2. The device was quite easy to set up with my old LiftMaster Professional garage door opener that did not support any smart connectivity.3. Open/close push notifications are generally instantaneous and have been consistently reliable.4. Status readings are accurate in real-time and the apps give a good history as far as when your garage door is opened/closed.5. Guest user sharing that allows you to share access outside of your main account. However, sharing is location-based, and access cannot be delegated down to specific sensors.6. Orientation sensors mounted on the garage door allow you to sense door activity without physically modifying the garage door (just a sticky tape mount on the garage door itself).7. Amazon can actually deliver packages in the garage without leaving them at the doorstep. The not so good:1. There is approximately a five-second delay between when a close command is issued through the app and when your garage door actually begins to close. During that delay, the main unit emits constant, loud warning beeps warning others to clear the area. I find this feature annoying since it adds a delay to when you have to wait for your garage door to close and the warning beeps may startle others (like your neighbors) at night thinking that it may be some kind of break-in. There are no official ways to disable this feature, although you can open the unit and desolder the speaker so the annoying beeping can be stopped. Alternatively, using the physical button can also avoid this issue (but this only works if you have a physical remote to use as well).2. The device only supports 2.4Ghz wireless connections and would not connect if WPA3 is enabled on your device, even in mixed WPA3+WPA2 PSK mode. This means that if you have purchased a newer router that supports WPA3, enabling it will prevent the main unit from connecting to it altogether. In those cases, you will either have to fall back to WPA2-PSK only mode or create an alternate network for IoT devices that support only WPA2-PSK on the 2.4Ghz spectrum.3. Connections are not the most stable and sometimes you will suddenly receive notifications that your device has gone offline, even if all of your other devices are fine and are connected to the Internet. Generally, the device will fix itself within 15 minutes when this happens, but during that time you would not be able to open/close your garage door via the app.4. Amazon Key activity is not always recorded - It seems like Amazon Key uses a different API to send door open/close activities to the garage door opener and their activities are not always 100% recorded in the garage door MyQ history. Although I have not had any thefts relating to this so far, having this happen without a record is somewhat concerning to me. You can tell this is happening because the driver can close your garage door opener without the same annoying beeps that you would otherwise get if you closed it with your app.5. Google Assistant integration is pretty useless - They used to require a subscription for you to even use this, but so far this feature has been pretty useless. This is especially because you can only use this integration to close the garage door or check its status. If you are driving and trying to open the garage door via the assistant, you will simply get a message saying "For security purposes, I cannot open the garage door yet." What is the purpose of using the assistant if this cannot be done hands-free? Additionally, if you have multiple sensors, the MyQ app will often get confused and keep asking you which one you wish to operate. It is just much easier to try to tinker with the app and try to open the garage door that way. Although they have temporarily waived payment for this, I am not sure why someone would pay for this half-baked feature.6. If you have MyQ and the Amazon Key app installed, they both start generating notifications at the same time. Although this is tweakable, this is still somewhat annoying.7. If you ever had to change your Wi-Fi password, you will have to reset the whole system and start the repairing process all over again. I don't know why they can't just allow you to do this in the app before the password change rather than forcing you through the whole process again.8. Although Amazon Key works most of the time, around 20% of the time the driver will elect to still put packages on your doorstep because it takes too long to open and close your garage door, and waiting for your garage door to open and close will cut into their delivery efficiency and rates. I actually have had multiple Amazon drivers shouting obscenities at the camera on different occasions because the garage door is taking too long to respond or they are carrying a large burden for the day. There was a Key delivery for an electronic that was both expensive and sensitive, but in that delivery, the driver ended up putting the package on the side door where my gutters were and the package got all soaked on a rainy day.9. The coin battery, being larger than the standard CR2032 (it uses a CR2450), is more difficult to find in stores and generally more expensive. Although you can still find them online in bulk, it might be more difficult to find something quick when the device is running low in battery.10. It tends to alert about the battery when the battery voltage is still a bit high. I measured the battery voltage of the stock battery which I replaced in which it said low battery, and the battery was still reporting 3.09V. Perhaps there is a high current draw that was causing it to go below a certain threshold, which seemed somewhat unlikely, I think perhaps they are doing this to try to get you to purchase these batteries more often (perhaps directly from Chamberlain themselves).

Style: Smart Garage Control (old)Verified Purchase
Let me start by saying I was on the fence for months as to whether I should actually buy this Garage Door opener from MyQ. The reviews on Amazon were very mixed and I wasn't too pleased that once I bought into this product, I would probably have to spend more. I will talk about that in a moment.

I actually decided to make a purchase during Prime Day when the cost of this item sold for about $20 less than it regularly does. It seemed like an absolute bargain at that point.

The installation was very simple. The mounting was a bit of a nightmare only because MyQ didn't fully explain that process in their directions.

The installation process is a breeze, thanks to the mobile app which does an excellent job of walking you through the process, complete with videos that make a novice like me an expert. You basically use the app to pair the base unit and the sensor. The sensor comes with two-sided tape and gets placed on the inside of your garage door.

The problem I ran into was the screws. MyQ provides you with 2 different sized sets of screws. They don't tell you that if you use the anchors, you must use the shorter screws. I used the longer ones. Now, I am sure most of you who are more handymen than I am probably could have figured that out on your own, but for someone not as mechanically inclined, it would have been nice for MyQ to give a better explanation of screw usage in their instruction manual. Once I undid the initial mistake, I was able to successfully mount the MyQ to my garage ceiling beam.

One other note to make here: The mounting bracket is also a bit of a problem. You have to go through two sets of holes to drill in your screw. It's a little cumbersome. I wish the bracket was designed a little better to make it easier. I am guessing this was the best MyQ could do. All in all, I am not taking any stars away in this review for the clunky install and bracket. I am guessing most of you who are more handymen orientated won't have an issue.

So, once installed, the garage opened and closed as expected using the remote. No issues there.

The real nice surprise here was that, for the moment, MyQ is no longer charging people $10 a year to integrate MyQ with Google (and I think) Alexa. Previously, there was a subscription charge. That caused a huge amount of backlash from customers. I even swore I would not buy this product if a subscription was mandated. Well, for now, that subscription has been put on hold. You can get free integration for your smart device. Be aware that for the moment MyQ is saying this could be only temporary.

Voice integration with Google Home Hub is not as fluent as you would hope. You can't just say, "Hey Google, is my Garage Door open?" of "Hey Google, close my garage door." You have to say, "Hey Google, ask MyQ if my Garage Door is Open." I am not exactly happy about that extra step.

Also, do realize that there are extra security measures put in place that prevent homeowners from giving smart devices opening commands. You can't say, "Hey Google (or Alexa) open my Garage Door." The reason behind this is so burglars can't yell that command from outside your home in hopes of your smart device picking it up.

    HOWEVER....HOWEVER...HOWEVER...

There is a new, free software workaround that allows you to open and close your garage door through Alexa (and probably Google) commands. You don't need to buy the $15 kit. If you want more information you can reply to me in the comments.

One other thing I need to mention here. If you want iOS/Homekit support you need to buy the additional $90 MyQ bridge. I found that aspect to be unfortunate as that add-on is severely overpriced. I will end up purchasing it just so that I can open and close my garage door using the new iOS 13 Carplay functionality which puts Homekit on your navigation screen. It would be great, as I arrive home to say, "Hey Siri, open my garage door."

So, bottom line: The MyQ garage door opener works great out of the box. Some of its smart home command functionality is limited, but there are workarounds.

The CHAMBERLAIN Smart Garage Control is a robust and innovative solution for modernizing your garage door operations. This wireless garage hub and sensor, equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, delivers impressive functionality and convenience. With a solid 4 out of 5 stars, it stands out in the market, though it has a minor drawback that users should be aware of.

    Performance:
The CHAMBERLAIN Smart Garage Control excels in providing remote access to your garage door via a smartphone app. The integration of both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ensures that you have reliable connectivity whether you're at home or on the go. The setup process is straightforward, and the device generally performs well, offering seamless control and monitoring of your garage door from anywhere.

    Build Quality:
The build quality of the Smart Garage Control is commendable. The hub and sensor are well-constructed, with a design that feels durable and reliable. The device’s compact size makes it easy to install and position within your garage without taking up excessive space or interfering with other equipment.

    Ease of Use:
The user experience is enhanced by the intuitive app interface, which allows for easy management of your garage door. Features like real-time status updates, remote control, and notifications are well-implemented, making it simple to operate and monitor your garage door. The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options add flexibility and convenience, ensuring that you can access your garage door regardless of your location.

    Cons:
The primary issue with the CHAMBERLAIN Smart Garage Control is a noticeable delay during the closing procedure. While this delay is not usually significant, it can be somewhat inconvenient, especially if you’re accustomed to instant operation. This minor drawback is the reason for the 4-star rating, as it affects the overall efficiency of the system.

    Pros:

Remote Access: Control your garage door from anywhere using the smartphone app.
Dual Connectivity: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options ensure reliable operation.
Easy Installation: Compact and durable design that is straightforward to set up.

In summary, the CHAMBERLAIN Smart Garage Control is a highly functional and well-designed product that earns a 4 out of 5 stars. Its strong performance in remote control and monitoring, combined with its durable build and user-friendly interface, make it a great choice for enhancing your garage door's functionality. The delay during the closing procedure is a minor issue, but it doesn’t overshadow the overall effectiveness and convenience of this smart garage control system. So much so that I have bought and installed several.

I really love this product. I ordered it per the suggestion of a friend. But admittedly I waited almost a month before I installed it because I was a little intimidated, worried about the technology and installation (hardware- drilling etc) but once I finally did it, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was! It’s been so helpful and I love the feature that allows me to set timers to have it shut (like at bedtime each night to make sure in case I’ve come in earlier in the day with groceries or something and forgotten to close it). It makes me feel extra safe. And I also ordered a blink camera on prime day to keep in the garage for added security and convenience. It’s affordable and makes my life easier. I never write reviews but I thought I’d give my feedback on anyone thinking it over. No complaints yet. I’ve had it in use now about 2-3 weeks. My sister is even ordering one now for her house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great with my Tesla and now it provides Amazon Key in Canada.

Been mostly happy with this purchase of a MyQ smart garage door opener.

It integrated easily with my Tesla and works great 98% of the time.

Once in a while there is a network connectivity error between my car, the cell network, my home wifi, and or the smart opener and I have manually open/close the garage door with the standard opener. But that is very rare.

The APP has an auto close feature, so if you forget to close the garage door and the setting is turned on, it will automatically close the garage door at the set time. This is a great feature.

And now Amazon supports this MyQ model for Amazon Key - in garage delivery. Just signed up and looking forward to receiving my first in-garage delivery.

This is basically a traditional garage door opener that can be paired with your garage door motor and then controlled by your phone. That is it. It's so simple and yet so brilliant. You don't have to worry about any wires. Plug in the base unit, pair it with your garage door motor (installed in the ceiling), place the door sensor on the garage door and you are done. Works flawlessly every time. If you need to control the second door, just buy another door sensor and pair it with the base unit. The compatibility list here is quite significant so you should be good to go.
