I bought this CPU for an upgrade to my home server, which was using a Ryzen 3900x from my main build.

I ended up going with the Ryzen 7 5700x because it has 8c/16t which is adequate for my home lab use cases and it supports ECC DDR4; I have this paired with 64 GB of Kingston ECC UDIMM DDR4. At $160 (with the interest free Amazon payments), this was a much cheaper option than buying a second Ryzen 9 5900x for this machine. The IPC gains over Zen 2 are noticeable and it performs very well in my home lab use cases. I've been using this with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Windows 11 Pro without issues for the past month or so I've had it.

I recommend this CPU if youre looking for a cheap in socket upgrade from a prior AM4 Ryzen CPU or if you're looking to build a new budget gaming PC. As I mentioned in my 5900x review, now is a great time to scoop up deals on the 5000 series CPUs along with cheap AM4 motherboards and PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage.

Overall, this CPU performs as I would expect it to, is a solid value at ~$160 and it does really well in my home lab use cases. 5/5!

Got this for half off, so I have no complaints whatsoever.

I needed this to rebuild my media center PC that I use for all my computer content, video files, etc, to my TV and projector. I couldn't upgrade what I had to windows 11 since it was a 6 year old system, running an older Asus ROG Strix motherboard and an older AMD Ryzen processor.

Got the new board, new CPU here, new RAM, threw it all in, and was up and running in no time. I like the speed boost compared to what I had, and the fact that I could now upgrade to Windows 11.

Runs fine, works well with the water cooling system I've been using with the older CPU. No issues at all, and for the price, it was a steal. I don't do gaming on this, I have a new 2024 laptop that is my gaming system, so all I wanted here was a reliable system for watching movies from my NAS and the onboard drives, and this delivered.

For those that are most interested in this product, the most intensive thing that I use this CPU for is gaming. I am a hardcore sandbox gamer. Do you know what that means? That means my rig needs a strong cpu that has the cores, threads, and clockspeeds to make sure that my GPU is the lacking component. Right now, I think that my CPU and GPU are almost a perfect match: 7 5700x + RTX 4060 (8GB). There are a fair share of games where my CPU bottlenecks on performance, and a fair share where that is the case with my GPU. I bought this for my first PC build in November 2023, my only wish, is that I went with a slightly more pricey, but probably more future proof AM5 build.

For those that might have a little more wiggle room with their budget, the 9 5900X (best AM4 CPU) was just on sale for about $222 not too long ago, and the prices with CPUs here on amazon are quite fickle. Use an amazon price tracker to determine the likelihood of a near sale. At the time of writing this, the 5900X can be expected to have a 32% performance improvement over the 5700X, for the expense of an additional $100.

For first time builders that are considering the future proofing of their build, look into AM5 CPUs, given you have the budget for one. An AM5 equivalent would be the Ryzen 5 7600X, feel free to scale up from there, depending on your budget and needs.

But when product received and it worked properly, I think the users who complained about bent pins may be didn't installed cpu properly
