Logitech Revue Tries New Marketing Angle: Freakiness

Featured image for Logitech Revue Tries New Marketing Angle: Freakiness

This Fall, Logitech will be releasing a Google TV set-top box called the Revue.  Instead of running ads explaining how having an Android 2.1 device between your TV and your components would be a Really Cool Thing, their marketing campaign theme is that your television misses you.  Two of the ads manage to get the message across, sort of, although the animated television screen has a rather, er, unusual method of locomotion.  AndroidSpin calls it right, these ads are “just plain creepy.”

But the third ad (photo above) was produced by someone who spent a little too much time watching horror flicks.  I don’t feel much desire to buy anything related to this commercial, not the Logitech Revue, not Google TV, not the laptop the teen is using, not even the bedroom set.  Somehow screaming and high tech just don’t go together.  Have a look at it here.

Now that you your heart has leapt out of your mouth, enjoy the other two ads.   This one feels the most true-to-life, but I still think that wandering monitor shouldn’t be quite so bipedal.

And this last one just makes me think of a voided warranty.

What message do you get from the ads?  Does it make you want to buy a Revue, buy any Google TV box but a Revue, or throw out all your screens before they come sauntering through your house?
