Verizon showed up in a major way at this year’s CES and is on pace for a stellar year.  They announced a 4G/LTE smartphone from all the major players and stated they will ramp up the coverage area to 200+ cities this year.  Also the relationship with Skype has expanded, as all LTE devices contain front-facing cameras and come preloaded with an enhanced Skype, written specifically to take advantage of the new network’s capabilities.

Here they are, phone by phone.

Motorola Droid Bionic

The Droid Bionic is the new dual core 4G flagship from Motorola and the 4.3 inch successor to the immensely popular Droid X. You can’t go wrong with this phone as it has all of the new high-end features available today, including the new qHD display.

I currently use the Droid X as my daily handset and consider this a worthy successor and new top Verizon device.  It is shipping with Android 2.2 but will be upgraded to 2.3 (Gingerbread) in the not too distant future.

HTC Thunderbolt

The HTC Thunderbolt is a new iteration of the EVO 4G, but this time it is running on Verizon’s LTE network.  It comes with the familiar Sense UI, 4.3 inch display and a kickstand on the back for media playback.   A great addition is the 8 GB of on-board memory and the 32 GB microSD card that comes pre-installed on the device.

Samsung Unnamed LTE Device

The New Smartphone from Samsung comes with everything a Galaxy S device offers, with a number of key advancements.  Along with LTE and the front-facing camera, it has a new display called Super AMOLED Plus with 50% more subpixels than a standard LCD.  The phone has a beautiful display, Touch Wiz UI, and access to the Samsung Media Hub that is available on the Galaxy Tab.

LG Revolution

The LG Revolution is a sleek new slate and as with the other devices has a 4.3 inch display, which is becoming the standard for Verizon LTE devices.  It comes with a front-facing camera and it is nice to see that LG is bringing high end devices to the market with snappy performance as well.
