Want Froyo? Well if you have the Samsung Epic 4G on Sprint, the  Samsung Captivate on AT&T, or the HTC Desire, Samsung Acclaim or Samsung Mesmerize on U.S. Cellular, you might just be in luck. Various reports across the web have the Android OS 2.2 update ready for your device, or at least just a little bit closer.

A source of AndroidCentral has said to expect the Froyo update for the Epic 4G on the Sprint network to surface on February 21st. I don’t know what the current build of that device is, but the source claims that Samsung insiders already have an Epic running build EA17. Of course this is only a rumor for now, with the “update” just over a week away, so keep your eyes peeled.

Info gathered from a screenshot of AT&T’s support page shows a Samsung Captivate running Froyo. Whether this is just a cruel joke or a hint of what’s to come, Froyo can be seen in the support information showing how to find your operating system and firmware version. As for if and when, that’s still up in the air.

If you’re a customer of carrier U.S. Cellular, the HTC Desire, Samsung Acclaim, and Samsung Mesmerize are ready for Froyo. If you own a Desire you can head right over to the official US Cellular page to get the download going now. As for the Mesmerize, build EA11 has shown up, with download instructions available over at  XDA Developers.
