Rise and shine, everyone! It’s February 24th, and that means the Motorola Xoom is now on Verizon! At least it is now on the Verizon Wireless website, and they’ve set up a landing page telling you all the reasons why you should go out and buy the very first Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet right now!
Honeycomb! Apps! Hardware! Network Connectivity! Thickness and Size! And of course, the Specs. All that is waiting for you on the Xoom landing page over at Verizon.
You know, Verizon usually does a really nice job with these product webpages, but I’ve already found an amusing error in this one. Wonder if they’ll clean it up after a few of us notice?

You can also buy apps from the web-based store on www.google.com and the app will show up on your app tray.
Now maybe Google has equipped this tablet with some special functionality where it gets its own app store direct from the main Google page. But this is the first I’ve heard about how to access the Honeycomb-flavored Android Market, and I’m surprised Verizon isn’t directing their customers right here.
They are also mentioning the availability of over 100,000 Android apps in the Market. Hmmm. Did they exclude 150,000 for not playing well with tablets, or did the marketer responsible for this information page work off some very old data?
As to upgrading to Verizon’s LTE (their 4G implementation), they have a page where you can ask to be put on their mailing list and be told when it’s available. You can also check out their LTE Upgrade FAQ, as well as the Getting Ready Guide, which steps you through backing up data and packaging it to ship. Verizon suggests you will receive download speeds (from the Internet to your device) of 5-12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2-5 Mbps.
