SPB, who have been around in the mobile market for sometime now supplying various applications, has announced that its new application, SPB TV 3.0, is going to be the place to be for broadcasters around the World to offer their content. Be that free or subscription-based to various platforms, SPB is there. That is quite a bold statement as with the introduction of tablets such as the HTC Flyer, organizations worldwide from print to TV are already making their own mark. The BBC only a week or so ago released their own BBCi player application  to the UK user.

The idea is to offer the customer a choice  from a wide range of paid and free service,s with the broadcaster choosing what you get for nothing and what you’ll have to pay for, be that through ads or subscription. In a very competitive market,  firms have to stand out from the crowd and offer a unique product. While this is unique, can SPB pull in the big names in TV and if it is to work they’ll need to do it fast. Some of the names they have managed to pull in thus far are Euro News, France 24 and a couple of Fox news channels.

You can download SPB TV from the Android Market now, it’s free and requires Android 1.6 or greater. Just don’t expect any prime time shows just yet.
