LG Optimus 3D Coming To AT&T As Thrill 4G

AT&T is keeping with their new tradition of giving their 4G devices the 4G moniker at the end of their name just to make sure you know of the increased network capabilities. The announcement of the Thrill 4G is big news and in a recent comparison test conducted by Anandtech the LG 3D smartphone was the fastest off all the dual core Android flagships.

It is shipping with Android 2.2 Froyo that will also be upgraded to Gingerbread in the near future with the addition of some enhanced 3D UI elements. A dedicated ‘3D’ Hot Key on the side of the handset can activate one of five 3D UIs, including: Gallery, Camera, Game & Apps, YoutTube 3D section on which you can upload personal 3D content and view 3D content uploaded by others and a 3D Guide.

Thrill 4G Stellar Performer

The Thrill 4G will be the first device to ship with Texas Instruments new dual core processor the OMAP 4430. The benchmark results show that this is one powerful chip and out performs the Tegra 2 in its cousin the Optimus 2x, while also outperforming the Exynos dual core chip from  the Samsung Galaxy II.

LG features an LCD with a 480 x 800 resolution on 4.3 inch display. The autostereoscopic LCD is a world’s first on a mobile phone, supporting 3D viewing without glasses. In terms of camera support the LG Optimus 3D is the clear winner with its dual rear cameras and ability to shoot 3D video in 720p and 1080p in 2D.

What do you guys think of the new AT&T Thrill 4G and the whole 3D smartphone movement?
