Alltel Announces Pre-orders for HTC Merge

The HTC Merge has had some hype behind it.  Maybe not as much as the HTC Thunderbolt, thank god, but the Merge was originally rumored to launch back on November 18th for Verizon.  Since then this phone was rumored for this spring with Alltel and now it’s finally back with a pre-order date for March 28th.  Alltel will be selling the Merge for $124.99 with a two-year contract after a rebate which wasn’t specified.

HTC Merge, a Smartphone or a Hot Potato

Here’s a little refresher on the device.  For starters it will be the first global CDMA Android smartphone with Android OS 2.2 (Froyo).  It has a 3.8 inch screen with a slide-out keyboard, HTC’s Sense UI, an 800 MHz processor, and a 5 megapixel camera recording at 720p.  Stay tuned for a release date and upcoming information for the HTC Merge.
