“Official” Gingerbread Leaked to Samsung Galaxy S Users

Unless you’ve already flashed your phone with a custom ROM, you’re probably hoping your device will be the next to receive its upgrade to Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread). If your phone is a Samsung Galaxy S, you won’t need to wait any longer. A Gingerbread update for the Galaxy S, which is reportedly a leaked copy of the official update, has been seen.

It’s still not exactly an official release, but it’s said to be the exact update which would be installed today if you brought your Galaxy S in for warranty service, and it’s available at a number of download sources.

Flash at Your Own Risk

Still, flashing a new ROM to your phone is risky business (i.e., don’t blame anyone but yourself if you brick your phone). For the brave souls amongst you who want an early taste of Gingerbread on your Galaxy S, you’re best off following these instructions, after you do a thorough backup, of course.

For those of you who dare to run the update ahead of its official release, I’d love to hear your thoughts about Gingerbread on the Galaxy S once you have it up and running.
