Verizon Goes Live with HTC Droid Incredible 2 and Casio G’zOne Commando

If you’ve been waiting to order either of these new Android offerings from Verizon, they are both available now on Big Red’s website.  Both the HTC Droid Incredible 2 and the Casio G’zOne Commando are priced at $199 with a two year contract.  The no-contract prices are similar as well; the Droid Incredible 2 will set you back $439.99 and the G’zOne Commando will be $449.99.

The two phones might have similar pricing but are otherwise very different devices.  Clearly the Droid Incredible 2’s marketing team wasn’t taking any chances with a new brand name, and decided to ride on the previous Droid Incredible’s success. I do wonder if the ruggedized Casio smartphone got a name that looks like a typographical error because some product manager somewhere lost a drinking game.  I believe that high-tech products should be limited to at most one X or Z per name, and using either should preempt any apostrophes or random capitalization in the middle of the monicker.  It could have been worse, they could have called it the G’z1, or even worse, the G’z1ne.

In case you can’t tell which phone is which from those snippets, that’s the Incredible 2 on the left, and the Commando on the right.

Verizon LTE Woes Lead to Dis-Charge?

You can order the Droid Incredible 2 or the G’zOne Commando online by clicking on the phones in this sentence.  The Samsung Droid Charge, however, is not on the VZW website, and this right after Big Red’s LTE service went on the fritz for a day, plus the Motorola Bionic turning into a completely different phone rumors.  Remembering the long, drawn-out series of rumored launch dates for the HTC Thunderbolt, Verizon’s first LTE smartphone, I’d be surprised if the Droid Charge was on the shelves next to the Incredible 2 and the G’zOne Commando today.

Let us know if you pick either of these up, or see a Charge!  When I tried searching for it on Verizon’s website, all I found was this.
