HTC Kingdom, New Sprint Device, Opens Ermine Robe

Last week we got a blurrycam view of the HTC Kingdom.  Pocketnow managed to get a better view of the upcoming smartphone (above), and along with details of leaked HTC ROMs, we have a better idea of what kind of device this is.  Rumors that the Kingdom was an HTC EVO 3D for the European market can now be banished.

Pocketnow points out that the button configuration on both the front and the sides is different from the EVO 3D (at right for comparison), despite having a similar design.

The leaked ROM (from 911Sniper, the same source for the blurrycam shot) gives us all the specs:

Specs for My Kingdom!

  • Qualcomm MSM7630 chipset, including Adreno 205 GPU
  • CDMA with world phone support (quadband GSM, disabled in US)
  • 768 MB RAM
  • 4 inch qHD display
  • 5 MP rear-facing camera
  • 1.3 MP front-facing camera
  • 720p video recording, playback at 30 frames per second (fps)
  • Dual microphones to cancel noise
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • Sprint WiMax data connectivity
  • Android Gingerbread 2.3.3

An interesting aside on the HTC Kingdom

Even though we know it’s running a dual core Scorpion, the ROM suggests there is a one single core CPU running 1.2 GHz.  And the Bluetooth chipset used not only supports FM radio reception (ho-hum), it also can handle FM radio transmission.  So perhaps it can use your car radio to play your tunes?

Price and availability not specified.  We’ll let you know as soon we hear more about the HTC Kingdom.  Silly hats, we hope, not included.
