LG Tries To One Up Samsung

LG tried to one up Samsung by announcing their new Optimus LTE2 right after the official Samsung event yesterday. They are bringing their A game however to the challenge with a True HD IPS display throwing jabs and an unprecedented 2GB of RAM for the knockout punch. LG definitely had an eye toward their Korean counterpart when designing the Optimus LTE2, it will feature wireless charging and a 2150 mAh battery powering Android 4.0. The CPU is still unknown, but should be along the lines of the Tegra 3 or Exynos quad core to go along with the copious amounts of RAM on what should be a nice  device once it’s all said and done.

LG probably should have held off on the announcement to avoid being overshadowed by all the Samsung hype going on, but it will be available in Korea on multiple carriers by the end of the month. So it won’t be long before comparisons start to pop up and we see how the extra GB of RAM and True HD IPS display fair against the competition.

Do you think we need that much RAM in a smartphones already? Probably not, but I’m not complaining. Unfortunately there is no word on international versions or any plans on a release outside of the Korean market yet. If we look to the competition we might be able to see a U.S. version sometime this summer.
