Featured image for Android 4.2 the most Buggy Release since Honeycomb?

It’s sure looking that way. Over the past few days we’ve seen numerous reports of bugs found in Android 4.2. A number of them are affecting all Nexus devices, except the Nexus 4 which is interesting. There are a few major bugs we’ve seen including December missing from the People app. Then there’s the random reboots, and battery drainage/slow charging as well. With all these bugs we are definitely expecting an Android 4.2.1 update pretty soon. Some are even saying that this is the most buggy update since Android 3.x – Honeycomb. Now that’s a pretty bold statement. Here’s a very quick rundown of all the major bugs that’s been reported to us.

December Missing in the People App

Affects: All devices running Android 4.2.

It appears this is a bug in the Android 4.2 core code, which means any ROMs with Android 4.2 will also have this problem along with the Nexus family. Guess Google was trying to forget about December 21, 2012?

Extreme Battery Drain and Slow Charging

Affects: Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 (can’t compare the Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 since they came with Android 4.2)

Complaints have been coming in that users are experiencing battery drainage more than usual in Android 4.2 and also very slow charging going on. Where’s Android 4.2.1?

Random Reboots

Affects: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10

We are also getting reports of users on the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, 10 are experiencing random reboots. Which is uncommon for stock devices. Have you experienced any of these?

This all leads us to question, is Google really testing their software before pushing it out? Normally there are a few small bugs that don’t get reported, but this time in Android 4.2 there are a ton of larger bugs that will hamper your Android experience. Are there any other bugs you’re experiencing in Android 4.2? Let us know in the comments so we can add them to this post for everyone to be aware of, also include what device(s) you are experiencing them on. And Google, bring us an update soon, please!
