The Sony Xperia Z has a killer spec list:

  • 5-inch 1080p display
  • Quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 pro processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 13MP rear-facing camera; 2.2MP front-facing camera
  • 16GB internal storage; expandable via micro SD card
  • Android 4.1
  • Battery 2330mAh
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • Dust proof and Water resistant
  • Sony Bravia Engine 2 included for super brightness and clarity

It’s a great looking device and has 4G LTE connectivity, which doesn’t really narrow it down as to which carrier it’ll be on. Sony Mobile Communications President and CEO Kuni Suzuki, spoke about the Xperia Z:

“With Xperia Z, we are bringing over half a century of innovation in TV, imaging, music, film and gaming to create a superphone experience that truly stands out,”

“With great specifications, Sony’s media applications, One-touch functions and outstanding battery life, Xperia Z is well positioned for leadership in the smartphone market. By putting smartphones at the heart of our strategy, Sony is enabling people to create, enjoy and share content and experiences like never before.”

The Xperia Z also has Intelligent Sony Technology, which brings Sony’s long-standing TV expertise to its smartphone and delivers some immersive viewing experience with super brightness and clarity thanks to the Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine that’s included in the Xperia Z. This new Sony device also includes Battery STAMINA Mode which can improve standby time by up to four times. It automatically shuts down battery-draining apps whenever the screen is turned off and then restarts those apps when the screen is turned back on again.

Sony also included plenty of new NFC features in the Xperia Z, and introduced some new NFC-enabled headsets. With these new headsets, you can simply touch them to the Xperia Z to begin listening to tracks. The Xperia Z is very durable. It introduces an unique OmniBalance design with subtly rounded edges and a smooth reflective surface on all sides. The device also has the highest levels of dust and water resistance (IP55 and IP57) found in a premium smartphone.
