This kind of posts are always a combination of good news and bad news. People love to see their devices listed here but if it’s not, than sad faces appear everywhere. Here’s a compendium of the devices that have been announced to receive the newly announced Android 4.4 KitKat and the ETAs given by the manufacturers.

If your device is not here it doesn’t mean it’s not going to get updated. I’ll even include the devices that have been confirmed NOT to get updated just to be sure.

This list is going to be tricky, Android 4.4 has been optimized to work with less memory than before and Google is aiming at devices with just 512MB of RAM which means that some devices might get updated even if they’re not top of the line but are popular enough.

So, let’s get things started, first up is the Nexus line of devices of course:

  • Nexus 4
  • Nexus 7 2012
  • Nexus 7 2013
  • Nexus 10

All of these are getting 4.4 in the coming weeks. The 2-year old Galaxy Nexus is not getting updated, most likely due to the device’s relative age compared to other device, after all the Galaxy Nexus is getting on a bit now.

Next up, Motorola:

  • Moto X
  • Droid Ultra
  • Droid Maxx
  • Droid Mini
  • Razr HD Developer Edition

I don’t think Motorola will upgrade any older devices, specially since they weren’t made under Google’s umbrella. This is a new era for Motorola and I think they rest is pretty much forgotten.

HTC

  • HTC One (all models)
  • HTC One Google Play Edition

HTC said that the Google Play Edition would get it in 15 days and the rest of the Ones in 90 days. They added that they plan to keep Sense 5.5 on top of it but that’s hardly a surprise to anyone. However, we don’t know if they’ll add any new features or tweaks to it. As for the rest, I think the One mini and One Max will get it in a few months. The One X (and it’s similar variants like the X+) might get it as well. I don’t think anything older than the DNA will get it though, it’s just not worth the attention and HTC can’t spare any amount of manpower at this moment.

Samsung

  • Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition

The Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition will probably get it in about 2 or 3 weeks, close to the HTC One Play Edition. Samsung hasn’t said a word about the rest of the devices but you can bet that the Galaxy S4, the Note 3, Note 10.1 2014 edition will get it for sure. The S3 and the Note 2 might get it as well, specially if Samsung wants them to interact better with the Galaxy Gear. Speaking of the Gear, I think it will get Android 4.4 since it’s designed to run on lower RAM devices. They’ll probably give an update in the next couple of days.

That’s it for now, we’ll add more devices when they’re confirmed to receive KitKat or if they’re specifically said not to get it.
