g2-11-1024x682

Sprint have sent out an update to their G2 which enables LTE bands 26 and 41 on Sprint’s Spark service. This should enable faster speeds for some, but in reality this only affects a handful of markets where Spark is active. The software version you’re looking for is ZVA and aside from that, there’s little else of note included in this latest update.

As you can see from the above info, Verizon’s “affordable” 7-inch tablet is getting a pretty decent OTA this week. It’s tightened things up like the battery life, LTE connectivity and now there’s support for prepaid plans. Depending on whether or not you bought one of these, you’ll be happy to see that the UI has been tweaked a little, too. Overall though, these are more like fixes that should have happened a long time ago. Still, this is better than nothing, right?

This week, AT&T finally released the update to Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5.0 to the HTC One X. We say finally, because the international version of the device got the update months ago. Either way, we’re happy it’s finally here. At 540MB or so, you’re looking at Sense 5.0 with the general Android 4.2.2 improvements. It’s taken a long time for AT&T to unleash this update and sadly, this will be its last as HTC have no plans to update the One X beyond Android 4.2.2, which is a real shame, Android 4.3 at least would be nice. Sense 5.0 brings with it a lot of the features from the HTC One so those sticking with stock on their One X have reason to be happy this week.

Sense 5.5 brings with it a slightly refined UI as well as some much-needed tweaks to BlinkFeed. The update comes in at around 500MB and the version number you’re looking for is 3.15.707.4, let us know if you’ve got it yet!

XperiaSPReview14

With Sony rolling out Android 4.3 to a number of last year’s devices, we’re seeing more builds being certified for them. The Xperia SP had a new Android 4.3 build certified with the build number of 12.1.A.0.266, this is the third number for the Xperia SP and it could be the last. The Xperia SP is said to receive Android 4.3 early February. The Xperia T and V have also had new builds appear, with software number of 9.2.A.0.290. Hopefully all of this points to Android 4.3 updates heading to these updates shortly.

Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra Get New Software Update With White Balance Adjustments

Sony-Xperia-Z1s-T-Mobile-AH-2

Those rocking an Xperia Z1 or an Xperia Z Ultra, a new software build should be rolling out to your device with the software version of 14.2.A.1.136. The changelog details WiFi improvements and some apps tweaks to the email and contacts app. However, the headlining feature is white balance adjustments, which gives people fine adjustments over their display’s look and feel. It’s a great adjustment to have and we’re glad to see it here.
